Can you even still get real aluminum tinsel these days? All I've ever seen is that shiny plastic crap (about as conductive as a strip of masking tape!)

I haven't seen that stuff since the '70s - I thought it had been pulled off the market sometime around 1975 or so. It was a potential shock hazard if it somehow got connected to a C7 Christmas light bulb that had part of the base exposed.

Want to approximate a fractal and get a huge boost out of your whip antenna? Wrap some conductive tinsel around it. An old trick that really does work! The only problem is finding tinsel that is really conductive.

Ahh! The old aluminum foil on the rabit ears trick! And it does work.

Pulled mine out of a couple of old printers - they use it in some printers to bleed static off of the paper.

Also if you put an electric train under the tree, the tinsel would fall down and short out the train track!
