Following the coup in 1979, Radio Free Grenada used to broadcast on 15045 kHz until the US invasion in 1983. It was a station I used to easily receive in St. Louis in the evenings.Earliest radio memory of Grenada is hearing the old Windward Islands Broadcasting Service on shortwave in the late 1960s. It would put in a decent signal into Texas on 11975 kHz (5kw transmitter) during the late afternoon and evening. They also used some frequencies in the 90, 60 and 19 meter bands, rebroadcasting the output of the 535 kHz station in St. George’s and a few other mediumwave outlets.
The WIBS shortwave service was shut down in the late 1970s, IIRC.
I've actually heard of that station before. I believe I have an old friend, who's been on there for years. Back to topic, welcome and enjoy the board.I occasionally catch Grenada's 'Harbour Lights' on 1400 kHz AM from the UK as it's nicely sandwiched nicely between two 9 kHz European offsets (1395 and 1404 kHz).
