Hello from the beautiful island of Grenada

Currently operating Citysound FM, broadcasting throughout the island on one frequency, 97.5 FM. Commerial station, with live Audio stream via most major streaming platforms and our website.
I've registered to this site long, but never had the time to really browse through.
I hope to share and gain some knowledge from here.

Welcome Madvibes, I just pulled up the stream to listen to Citysound. How long has the station been on the air?
Ace Of Base... Rick James... Ghostbusters... how would you describe your format?
How many transmitters do you have to cover the island?
It looks like there are 14 FM signals in St George - what is the competitive landscape like?

And... how is the recovery from Beryl going?

I'm looking at pics online, absolutely BEAUTIFUL island!

The underwater sculpture park looks like a must see for tourists. I had forgotten about the famous invasion over 40 years ago, glad things are alot more peaceful these days.

And welcome!

Earliest radio memory of Grenada is hearing the old Windward Islands Broadcasting Service on shortwave in the late 1960s. It would put in a decent signal into Texas on 11975 kHz (5kw transmitter) during the late afternoon and evening. They also used some frequencies in the 90, 60 and 19 meter bands, rebroadcasting the output of the 535 kHz station in St. George’s and a few other mediumwave outlets.

The WIBS shortwave service was shut down in the late 1970s, IIRC.

Following the coup in 1979, Radio Free Grenada used to broadcast on 15045 kHz until the US invasion in 1983. It was a station I used to easily receive in St. Louis in the evenings.

I occasionally catch Grenada's 'Harbour Lights' on 1400 kHz AM from the UK as it's nicely sandwiched nicely between two 9 kHz European offsets (1395 and 1404 kHz).
I've actually heard of that station before. I believe I have an old friend, who's been on there for years. Back to topic, welcome and enjoy the board.

My wife and I spent 10 days on Grenada before kids. What a beautiful place. With the terrain, it is probably pretty hard to cover the island with an FM.
