A good friend of mine recently did a studio at home for next to nothing, like under $300. If you need any advice on gear, like microphones or mixers or software, give a holler here.

However, my wife had sent me (as a gift) to a course with Dan Levine at Marywood on getting into voiceover work. I am not sure if this will help you but at the class, Dan Levine said that all you needed for a good home studio was a good mic and an M-BOX. I went to the Guitar Center store in the new Montage strip mall and purchased an MBOX2 which is a mini version of the actual MBOX. This is a small unit that plugs into one of the USB ports. You plug your inputs into the unit. It has a program that comes with it called ProTools. Includes CD tutorial, etc. I am still in the "playing around with it" phases. I thought that this might be useful to look into. Good Luck!

Hi Tom from a former colleague at WBRE (I was in the sports department as a part-time shooter back in 1989-90).
Cool Edit is now indeed Adobe Audition, but the price is STAGGERING. After I changed computers and lost my Cool Edit Pro login key (which Adobe promptly refused to honor, instead offering me $250 off the Audition program), I switched to a different program - Audio Edit Magic. It works well for simple 2-track and 4-track stuff and is only $30.
Hope this helps. Have a great holiday!
Cheers,
Rick

Hello Tom:
Great to have you on this board. You are indeed a true NEPA radio legend with one of the best voices in the biz.
Do you happened to know what ever happened to Al Levy (spelling?) from Mutual? I believe he was also a local guy before heading the Mutual.
