Here comes the next HBG/York/Lancaster format change...

I tend to agree with SteelRocker, FM Talk is an ever-growing format.

Though, just really getting settled in down in Chambersburg; but, WEEO-FM 103.7 is starting to make a difference.

Leave WARM as an Gold-based AC, change WSOX to FM TALK.

Or, if the powers that be don't like FM Talk; what about making it a powerful ESPN or FOX affiliate?

When I drive into Philly or Baltimore, I hear some FM talkers, and they sound great. I can't believe that FM talk would not be a huge hit around here. However, I have a long standing reputation of being a mouth breathing cretin, that can't tell s___ from shinola.

Cumulus seems to be putting on CHR's these days. York is w/o a CHR since the Peak showed up on the scene.

That is as viable an option...as Jon Summers mentioned.

Question is...which one?

And......how does it impact the current airstaffs?

If someone would want to take on GTY, I would suggest they find Dave 'Boom Boom' Cannon, who was let go by WGTY not too long ago. That would be a start.

Did anyone but me notice in the last book (at least here on radio-info) WARM was listed as a CHR??? That wouldn't be much of a shift, as had been noted, Pink and Katy Perry are apparently A/C these days.

What happened to Bob Rudy on The Peak?

I think he got canned. I checked out his website the other week and saw no Peak images, as were there before. Resume has been updated.

Mr. Rudy is bigger and better than this crappy cookie-cutter formatting. Real radio is almost extinct here and listeners are fed up.

We, the listeners with the smarts to understand the radio business without being in the radio business, are PISSED and don't care about your corporate idea of "radio".

+ Voice tracking on the weekends and after 7 p.m. (Cumulus Harrisburg)

+ Failure to take any type of request - day or night (WSOX)

+ The ever-present screwing of personalities and caring more about advertisers than listeners. (Everyone)

+ The Cumulus forced week-long "vacations" of everyone on staff while the top dog prospers (not referring to Mad Dog, by the way)

+ Creating a "news" report by collecting headlines from the newspaper. Wow.

+ Traffic reports that we can't understand, but we can sure understand who is sponsoring it. $ $ $

+ Giving us syndicated radio that we don't care about.

In closing, Bob Rudy and the great personalities of yesteryear are much better off doing what they do best... being "personal" and working for the causes they cherish. Bob has always been a fantastic citizen and advocate for animals.

I swear, if I ever win the lotto, I will buy a station and run it the way its supposed to be run. Then, and only then, I will select "true talent" which does not give in to the "man" for $14 an hour.

That will never happen, so I guess it's back to the Ipod. Program directors who opt for voice tracking over live talent, remember that the listeners don't need you - you need the listeners. I just proved that fact by playing Arlo Guthrie's "City of New Orleans" on the 'net because NONE of you would play it on the FM band for me.

WOW! What a way to almost kill off a thread that we've been having alot of fun with. Like I said in an earlier post.....we all have the right to our opinion. NOW...back to our free research and consulting for Cumulus/York. It actually would be possible to merge WARM and WSOX. Listen to WLIF 101.9 Baltimore. During the week it's kind of a gold-based AC. They play current stuff.....but it's more conservative. On the weekends....it's Flashback Weekends....fun songs of the 60's and 70's......they do play some early 80's as well. If Cumulus would do this on one of their York FM properties, it would free up the other stick to go after an different audience with CHR, Country, or Hot AC....or whatever. CBS did this in Baltimore with WLIF after thet blew up WQSR. They also do a very Hot AC....almost CHR...on their sister station WWMX.

That is correct. Both LIF and Mix in Bal-more are great sounding stations, positioned apart enough that they should not be feeding off each other. That's part of the problem Cumulus has in York. Neither station can break into the top 2 as positioned as they are today. That has been the problem for a number of years but the people in Atlanta calling the shots don't appear to have an answer.

Why does WSOX have to be changed? I say, leave it alone!

It may not be SOX. It may not be either of them. Time will tell.

If Sox went away, Classic Hits is still available on Mix and the Peak.

I think that johnnyu likes the overall sound and delivery of SOX. It's the closest thing to an oldies format in the market. I would miss it as well and with those Lancaster numbers...I don't think they are going anywhere. I guess we'll have to watch the trades in the coming days and weeks to see if any new PDs are hired in the market. I know they are looking for one at MIX...but I thought Bobby D. was put in charge of WARM and SOX. I do know he's been absent from the air on both stations for over a week. Lot's of work to do behind the scenes perhaps?

Yes....Bobby D was put in charge of WARM when Dave Russell was let go due to "budget cuts." The Mix PD will come from somewhere else.

I Gotta say...whoever started this thread really started things up again on this board. Either nothings gonna happen....or the powers at Cumulus/York are tight lipped. The only thing I heard is that Cumulus was about to do a test on AC songs and cancelled it. This info being leaked could have stirred all these rumors up. If anything happens in the market at all....it will probably be some modification to MIX's programming once the new PD arrives. Anybody hear if that position has been filled as of yet?

All 4 stations had a format change last night---dead air! They must've taken a helluva hit at the studios, all 4 carriers were on with no audio. Then the carriers were shut down sometime, and I heard WARM and SOX back up w/dead air after midnight. Wonder how long Sam's gone w/o sleep?

So to the one who began this thread....about the guy who interviewed for the WARM PD job..........when the station was going country......what happened?
