Herman Cain/WSB

You know I have tried to listen to his show but just can't take it. He is not radio friendly and I find it just silly. Anyone else have this problem?

He's a lot like those shortwave talk radio hosts...

not a professional but has a lot of fire in his belly.
I can see where he'd say something that would get him kicked off the air.
But somebody else would just probably pick him up.

Here is what I have observed in recent years: When it comes to Talk Radio folks who play in the "political discussions" end of the pool, if your own 'life philosophy' meshes with the talker, you can overlook a lot of warts, freckles and other blemishes in the presentation. If your own philosophy is somewhere on the other side of center from the talker, you just can't ignore the delivery style.

I don't know how the people who are politically agnostic deal with evaluating talkers.

Cain is no Boortz, that's for certain.

Cox needs to put him on a sabbatical for 90 days, give him elocution training, hire a super sharp call screener/producer who makes certain he stays on message, do away with "Rapid Feyeah," encourage him to topic something other than politics.

Try all that and he might pass for something on WCFO.

How is he doing in his daypart? WSB-A/WSBB came in #1 in Arbitron (excuse me, Nielsen Audio), so someone is pushing up those numbers.

WCFO? Man, that's COLD.

WSB is coasting …

WSB is living off the fat of its ratings and reputation accumulated over 91 years. Were the playing fields leveled, they'd be hard pressed to keep up with the pack. Do something to diminish their reputation, and they'd drop to the bottom. For instance, if you could wave a wand and all the people who tune to 750 (now 95.5 FM) out of habit, not choice were to vanish, they would not be the powerhouse. It may take another 91 years, but once those people are gone WSB will fall from grace.

There is nothing redeeming about them. Least of all, Brother Cain. The preempt their one major drawing card Rush to insert local breaking news, or carry OMG!!!! a blatantly political speech by the president (that no other station carried; well, maybe AN1067). They keep that mess up and when the contracts change in January, they may find themselves with Limbaugh.

I'm not a huge Rush fan but they don't mind breaking in with some news story or traffic report and that throws your trend of though completly off. Also I don't like the right wing promo's they run slaming the president. So WSB...STOP IT! Don't get me wrong I'm not crazy about what the president has done but the nasty promo's and remarks do not help. It contine's to divide. AND put Clark back in the daytime block.

WSB made a HUGE mistake putting Herman Cain in the 9am-Noon slot. He SCREAMS at the listener. He is offensive.
I really do not understand how ratings are holding up during that 3 hour time slot. WSB has put Clark Howard on at
8pm, when the people who need his advice the most probably are not listening. Why continue with Cain? Clark
Howard needs to be on in this crucial time slot. If they want to continue with Herman, put him on at Midnight.
He is TERRIBLE. Period.

And WOW we have Boortz on the air today...!! What a wonderful, refreshing change. Maybe I can at least listen to the entire program and enjoy for a change. WSB: HELLOOOOOO.....WAKE UP. HERMAN'S GOTTA GO. NOW...!!

Not many people know this...

but the reason WSB can afford those local talkers, and other stations can not, is because they rent the land around their AM tower out to a shopping center.
They probably pull in $250K a month from that.
That goes a long way in paying those talkers their $100K a year salary.

I am sure some of the WSB talkers like Clark H., Herman Cain and Rush's fee are more than $100,000 a year. Of course Clark Howard and Herman C. get syndication fees too.

Clark has the CNN gig too. If he isn't over a million a year from books, WSB, syndication, and CNN I would be surprised. Don't forget he has rental property too. I am not sure of the dollar amount (high five or low six figures each) but he has really helped habit for Humanity by "funding" many homes for that organization.

Herman might be a little cheaper for WSB but he should have a nice retirement from his God Father's Pizza / Burger King days. Don't forget he gets $$ from Fox News too.
