Just wondering if anyone noticed that last night's St. Xavier - LaSalle high school football game was broadcast on both WSAI 1360-AM and WCKY 1530-AM? While St. Xavier's games have been on WSAI this season, I thought it interesting that last night's was on WCKY as well. As far as I can remember, this is the first time that station has aired a high school football game (or any high school sporting event). With its 50,000 watts and historic night-time signal, that game between the Bombers and Lancers could have been heard over a large portion of North America - and beyond - last night. Just wondering why it was decided that it was on WCKY as well as WSAI, particularly when WCKY, with its ESPN affiliation could have picked up the American League Championship Series game between Baltimore and Kansas City?
For those wondering if this was the first Cincinnati-area high school football game broadcast on a 50,000-watt station, it is not. Some years back, WLW aired the Division I play-off game between Anderson High and either Moeller or St. Xavier.
