Hitz 94 Format Change Client Letter

If you enjoyed Hitz 94's format, give a listen to 99.1, WSLQ out of Roanoke. Seems like a similar format, and it's got a KILLER 200,000 watt signal.

No, it's like WMAG. Delilah and everything. It sounded like Hitz 94 back when those songs were first popular.

According to radio-locator.com, Q99's signal is now "only" 150,000 watts, but that should be strong enough to cover a large chunk of the areas the late Hitz 94 reaches.

Online sources are messed up, but Q is still 200k from Poor Mountain in Salem, Va.

see: http://www.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/fmq?stat...&slat2=&NS=N&dlon2=&mlon2=&slon2=&EW=W&size=9

If I remember correctly: two continental boxes, putting out (combined) 67kW into panel antennas. And birdies tell me that Mel Wheeler is gonna be multiplexing all their stations, including Q, onto one master antenna in the not too distant future.

Fun fact: induced RF bit my hand at that transmitter. It also kept my camera from auto focusing. I guess it makes sense that the ICs inside the camera were having a hard time seeing 1s and 0s, as there's a 200kW FM, a full-powered analog TV station, and its full-powered digital, all in the same building.

Isn't radiation fun?

Was just up on Poor Mtn not too long ago. It's an AMAZING transmitter/tower farm. It aint no Mt Wilson or in Cali, but for this area it's one of the largest ;D

What about this with multiplexing? Which tower would they use? Build a new one perhaps?

Jason, Q99 does use panel antennas which is located right there on the same sitein the same building as WDBJ TV 7. K92 and Star 94.9 uses other facilities. And another thing; there was one point when I was up there walking around, I went right next to the tower of WSLC(NBC) and I could literally feel the RF and with all of the RF up there, some stations came in...while the radio was OFF!!

.... will planning a trip back up there in the near future :)
