Mook, I agree. I believe WOGL will do it, and not on HD4.

And B101 will crush them in the ratings. The AC always win in head to head battles with Greatest Hits stations at Christmas.

B101 won't be close to #1 this season. Not even remotely. Too much competition.

well who else is going christmas 98.1 95.7 106.1 ?

It's usually a sales/revenue gimmick. And as far as they go, THIS one DOES work.

Holiday formatted stations usually do get a nice ratings boost during their run. But there will always be somebody wanting to milk every potential drop of it. Just so the end of the year always look REALLY nice on the balance sheets. It's a BIG time for ad revenue (funny thing is I haven't heard a single spot on WEZW in the two hours I checked them out.)

Only problem with starting out THIS early, well....

Let's face it. It's hard to be excited about Christmas when you haven't even carved your Halloween pumpkin yet.

But then again, they're breaking out all the Christmas merchandise in department stores. And I'm already seeing cartons of egg nog on the grocer's shelves.

I'm guessing they're trying to time themselves accordingly. But seriously, the holiday radio/TV ad rush doesn't officially start until just before Thanksgiving. To start anytime before November 1st at the EARLIEST doesn't seem to me like the smartest strategy. But then again, for some stations, it could pay off.

Either way, we'll see.......

B 101 is also running Christmas music on their HD-2.
And then at some point the Christmas music will come over to the main channel and the regular music will go over to the HD-2 until midnight on Christmas night.
Let's hope they'll wait a little while before they do that.

B 101 has clearly won the Philadelphia Christmas position. Anybody who attempts to take them on will lose mightily. The only station that had success against B doing Christmas was the old Sunny 1045 and that may have been for only one season.

Here's hoping anyone who goes Christmas waits til very close to Thanksgiving at the earliest.

That's what B 101 has been doing (webstreams and HD being utterly irrelevant from a practical standpoint). If someone's going to bail out of what they're doing in a couple of months anyway, what the heck...going on Halloween or thereabout offers no significant downside.

lets see who buys 106.9 if they close on the station in november i could see some forum of christmas music taking over until a new format is decided

It's not unheard of for stations to stunt with Christmas music if they're flipping to a talk based format. 93.1 in Indianapolis played 93 days of Christmas music from the beginning of October to January before flipping to talk. 101.1 in St Louis started playing Christmas music on an 85 degree day in early October up to January before flipping to sports. I would not be surprised if CBS flips 106.9 to Christmas first before simulcasting KYW on December 26. I hope they get 106.9 the day after the world doesn't end.

I have Christmas music on right now as South Jersey Easy 93.1 WEZW is NOW 100% all Christmas Music till Monday December 26th

Yeah. Nothing makes one want to carve pumpkins more than hearing about a Winter Wonderland. Bone headed move. This station has gone Christmas this early before and did not get a ratings bounce. Doubt they will this year either.

Maybe it is as Mr. Fisher says, a bad economy and people need to be pulled out of the doldrums.

No, they would take out WIP FM HD-2 and replace it with KYW-FM and KYW-FM HD. So KYW, KYW-HD, Philadelphia and KYW-FM, KYW-FM HD Camden.

Or they could just eliminate the AM HD in the Id like WIP, they could make it "KYW Philadelphia, KYW-FM, and KYW-FM HD-1 Camden"

Hell. Some stores had Christmas decorations up after Labor Day. That's not part of the issue.
