Any thoughts or observations?

No increases for KVVF Latino Mix on both San Francisco/San Jose markets. Doesn't seem to be doing well.

It takes a while for a format change to have an effect. It's not like people are glued to their radios waiting for new formats.

It's never done well in the Bay Area. The only area where it's had moderate success is San Jose. If they insist on keeping 100.7 as Latino Mix, they really should go back to their old format; half English, half Spanish. Otherwise, the audience for that station is so small. You can only listen to so much reggaeton.

The holiday numbers are not the norm. Certain formats like news and talk don't do as well in the month of ho-ho-ho and holiday cheer, unless a huge news worthy event grabs everyone's attention.

When everything settles back down next release (notably the big gains from Christmas music), then we can get a better look at how stations are performing.

Either that, or maybe move some of the Reggaeton songs to KBRG Amor 100.3. KLVE 107.5 in Los Angeles has a different form of Spanish AC which has some Reggaeton songs mixed with the Latin Contemporary format. As for KVVF/KVVZ maybe bringing back the Spanish Adult Hits Recuerdo format is worth to experiment as what KRCD/KRCV in LA has been doing since the HBC days. It did well when it was on KBRG as Recuerdo.

KBRG - Spanish AC - Amor
KVVF/KVVZ - Spanish Adult Hits - Recuerdo
KSOL/KSQL - Regional Mexican - Que Buena

How did KYLD rank in the teen, 18-34, 18-49, and 25-54 year old demos!

Even with the 105.7 simulcast? The 2 signals seem to complement each other pretty well, filling in any gaps throughout the Bay Area.

I would imagine the KVVZ 65 dbu doesn't cover most of San Francisco and Oakland if signal is an issue.

I know radio locator coverage maps are not the most reliable, but KVVZ shows a strong signal over both San Francisco and Oakland. KVVF not so much.

100.7 / 105.7 always seems unable to maintain decent ratings for any length of time, regardless of format. That holds true even in the San Jose book, where 105.7's signal is very good for the most part.

It is amazing how the number of commercial FM stations programming English-language music in the South Bay has plummeted over the past 15 to 20 years. 92.3 is now foreign language, 97.7 is now non-commercial CCM, 104.9 is now non-commercial Classical, and 105.7 is now Reggaeton. Have I forgotten any?

Why is the logo on the 105.7 / 100.7 station web site so outrageously small? Is Univision embarrassed about being KVVF's owner? LOL

I think it's also possible that the format doesn't connect in the Bay Area for whatever reason. Univision's Latino Mix simulcast in Dallas-Fort Worth also has some signal gaps in the market, but Latino Mix performs better over there than it does in either San Francisco or San Jose. However, It's quite odd that not even the full signal Regional Mexican stations in San Francisco do well despite the market's high Hispanic population. I definitely wonder why the Spanish stations in San Francisco don't do as well as the Spanish stations do in other markets with a large Hispanic population.

Full Reggaeton doesn't work well for the Bay Area. But if they move some of those Reggaeton songs to the current Amor Spanish AC format at KBRG that could be a good move. KLVE in LA does exponentially well on it. Univision should go back with the Recuerdo Spanish Adult Hits format that was on KBRG. But this time on KVVF/KVVZ.

Something to note Amor does play some Reggaeton songs occasionally (1-2 songs per hour) and has some sort of impact to Latino Mix. Not only this, they play La Vida de Rico by Camilo on both stations. There are a few other songs as well.
