Holiday Music

OK, let the Holiday music begin!

Who will be the first to flip to Holiday music this year?

My guess is KOIT will, around Mid November.

Now, what's yours?

If it is not limited to the San Francisco market my guess would be a new comer like KFUT 104.3 in the Palm Springs/Indio market that came on in August (exact date I'm not sure) I believe as North Pole radio with all our holiday favorites and still playing when I checked it earlier today.

I think Christmas music shouldn't be started before Thanksgiving. It always brings back fond memories of the celebration of Jesus Christ's birth.

Does any station in the Bay Area but KOIT play non-stop holiday music? I don't think so. I remember that 99.7 KFRC would mix-in some holiday songs with the Oldies, but I think KOIT has been the only one for quite a few years.

Not sure if they still do, but KBAY - 94.5 in the South Bay - used to.

KBAY still plays 100% Christmas Music during the holiday season.

I liked what the old KBAY (San Jose) 100.3 FM would do. They started playing a Christmas song an hour after Thanksgiving and the weeks leading up to The Christmas Holiday increase the Christmas songs to two an hour then three (well you get it) by Christmas Eve it was continuous Christmas music until the 26th. You wouldn't get burned out on Christmas music this way and it "builds up" the Christmas feeling. To be Blasted for over a month of nothing but Holiday music drives me to switch to another station due to "burn out" listen all you programmers....I know stats show a different story.

By the way anyone remember Alpha-Beta (food stores) festival of Christmas music? they would take out ads in the newspaper and show you what was being played and at which time you could hear your favorite song.

I miss this formula as well. It ramped you up into the spirit instead of throwing it in your face on Black Friday. :)

Since this is in the San Francisco Market Thread, Yes this pertains to the SF Bay Area Stations.
