Holy Hell!

From Feder:

Larry Schreiner, the exChicago cop who spent 26 years covering the blood-and-guts beat for news/talk WGN-AM (720), has parted company with the Tribune Co.-owned station.

Didn't see that one coming!

When Ed Schwartz was on overnights at WGN, he and Schreiner had a ball whenever something like this would happen. They were on it faster than 780 or 670. This is not good for WGN, IMO.

It actually makes sense. The demo's they're after are doing a ho-hum with the likes of Larry. Not surprising at all.

It makes me wonder how long Milt will last. I guess I see him doing a Sunday night shift, but I think his demo may be too old for daily listening.>

What Larry Schreiner should do now...

Bad move, WGN. Demos don't matter when there's a breaking news story. EVERYONE wants to know what is happening. And Larry Schreiner knows EVERYONE who is ANYONE in Chicago. You WANT to have someone like that on your news staff. Larry was so dedicated to his job, he'd leave his scanner on all night. When certain tons were issued, he'd wake up, listen to the bulletin, and then get out there. I'd call him "death and destruction Schreiner", because whenever mayhem broke out, he was there. Cool under pressure and could work anything. WBBM, PLEASE
pick him up!!! And yeah, after 9 PM, I wouldn't bother to listen to the other stations for news, because Larry would always scoop 'em.
