Honor Them While They're Alive

Jeff Lynn of Barrett Media wrote an opinion article that country radio should do more for its legends while they're alive:

My question to Jeff is: Do you actually listen to country radio? Do you know that radio stations are actually doing everything you're talking about right now. All Audacy country stations run a four-hour classic country show every Sunday morning. If you look at Mediabase, which monitors the music radio plays, you'll see that artists like George Strait, Garth Brooks, and Alan Jackson are among the most-played artists in country music. None of them have current songs out. That airplay comes from their gold catalogue.

Rather than criticize, why not highlight all the great work being done right now by country radio programmers??

This is why God invented Mason Ramsey and John Foster. They don't hesitate to salute their favorite singers both deceased and still here.

God bless you and them always!!!

Holly

P.S. My only question is why did the Lord put 24 years between their age and mine??? :( :( :(

And why haven't I, a country fan since the 1970s, ever heard of either?

John Foster was the runner up on American Idol this year. I had to Google up Mason Ramsey. Apparently, he yodeled Hank Williams' "Lovesick Blues" in his local Walmart. Quite the little Internet sensation back in 2018. Has performed at The Grammys and appeared at the Country Music Awards.

Both of them are 18, so it's no wonder why you've never heard of either. I only know about John Foster because he's a Louisiana boy and has been in recent entertainment news.

This is a song that John wrote, and this is the first time he sang it for the American Idol show. This performance was done on Easter Sunday and at the end of the song, we learn about why the song was written. A tissue may be needed when listening to this gem of a song.

This song from Mason was released on June 30th two years ago which just so happens to be my birthday. I didn't discover Mason until five days later when I saw him being talked about at another forum. Mason wrote this song along with just about everything else that has been released from him since then. Every song from his album named I'll See You In My Dreams was co-written by him and his producer.

God bless you and both musical masterpieces and their camp members always!!!

Good golly, Miss Holly. I'm somewhat of a critter connoisseur (if you know me, you know) and it appears that I'm starting my Sunday morning staring directly into the eyes of a pacing cougar.

You sassy lady, you! 🤣🤣🤣

John Foster appears to have a long and fruitful career in the industry ahead of him. You and I share the same enthusiasm over his forward motion, as I think he is going to make a sizable mark on the industry. The talent and determination just ooze out of him. Mason, now that I'm aware of him, seems to be headed down the same path. Looks like we have a couple of young men who will do quite well in the country music scene.

^^^ I'm not sure what you mean there in the beginning of your message but thank you for checking out Mason and John. To me, they are complete and total packages who I pray are award nominated for both their singing and songwriting someday. So far, I've seen Mason in concert once and that was last year on March 22nd and because he was still just 17 then, I was respectful. I gave him an Oklahoma Thunder billfold for a gift because that's his favorite athletic team and I have a clip of his Q&A VIP moment where you get to hear me ask him who comes up with the concept for his videos. I am the girl with the long blonde hair. :) :) :)

John made his Opry debut last Saturday and will be there again on Wednesday July 9th at 8 PM EST. Right here is his Opry debut moment where he couldn't have picked two better songs to sing. I just pray that he sings his angel song next month when he is back. To me, the beautiful message that he wrote for his late friend, Maggie Dunn, should be given to her from that historical stage of all places because before her car accident took place, she encouraged him to focus on music and now look at where he gets to be these days due to her faith and belief in him. :) :) :)

God bless you and John and Mason and their families always!!!

Holly (a girl who hopes to meet John someday soon)

P.S. I don't know when John's birthday is, but he is 18 now and Mason will be 19 on November 16th. My only question is why couldn't the Lord have thought of them sooner? From all that I have seen of them so far, they both couldn't be any more of a gentleman. Mason is really big on family since his parents were not a part of his life and the way that John was during the American Idol show and the few interview clips of him that I have seen so far, he couldn't be anymore rooted into his Roman Catholic faith. :) :) :)

Disregard the antiquated non-PC commentary above from an old southern boy with an odd sense of humor, Holly. You are spot on about John Foster. His potential is limitless given his determination and sheer talent. He will go far in the industry and likely be a household name in the years to come. Now that I know about him, I'm looking forward to seeing how Mason grows into his own, too.

^^^ Right here is a song that Mason released last year that he wrote named "Blue Over You". If it got any time on the radio at all, it is the first song from him that got any since his 2018 release named "Famous" which of course was done back before his voice changed. Anyway, this song written about a girl that he was interested in at one point, but her feelings for him if she had any were not as extreme as his feelings for her. She turned him down and so this song was born. I heard him say during a radio interview that when she found out about the song, she was like, "I don't know how to respond to this." In my opinion, even though he did an awesome job writing and singing the song, it only gives that girl even more to be proud of if hurting him was her every intention. To me, people like her do not deserve such a reward.

God bless you and Mason always!!!

Holly

I eventually learned when John's birthday is. It is the day that he plays the Opry again on July 9th. :) :) :)

God bless you and him always!!!

Holly

P.S. A third Opry appearance from him has already been scheduled for August 21st. :) :) :)
