The fact that I don't understand something is nothing new. So it's no surprise that I don't see why the 96.9 format switch has three topics and around 900 response posts in about a week on this board. Didn't 103.3 do the same thing a while back? There was certainly some discussion, but I don't recall seeing anything approaching this response. Why is this so much different?

Probably the biggest general reasons are:
-you've got 19 people posting the same thing at the same time without bothering to see what or if anyone else has already posted....
-which they already have because everyone wants to be first even if it's already been mentioned 283 times over the first 99 pages

Also:
-This wasn't your normal music to music flip, it was talk to music so everyone has 40 or 50 different opinions of their own (all of them wrong ;D )
-Lauro has to angrily spout off once per day for about 10 posts each time (that's a conservative estimate ;D )
-a lot of people I've never seen on this board posted constantly about the exact same things every single day.

So, to summarize, nearly everyone (except for me) in the big thread said the following things multiple times over multiple days:
-it's 10am, where's the flip
-it's 11am, where's the flip
-it's noon, where's the flip
-I guess it won't happen today
-I guess it won't happen tonight
-what do you think the format will be
-any idea what the format will be
-so what's the format
-are they serious with this crap
-do they have a facebook page yet
-anyone check twitter
-what about Wikipedia
-anyone ask Joe Gallant (actually, nobody said that)

and, the most mentioned comment of all (drumroll)--

-I'm sick of this stunting (totaling approximately 899 of the 900 comments).

I hope that answers your question, sir.

Well that pretty sums up the last 3weeks everyone drive home safely thank you! :)

the imaging for their stunts was better than the "hot" stuff! The woman saying "Hot 96.9" sounds as exciting as the receptionist at my dentist's office.

Gloria Gaynor "I Will Survive" - hell to tha no

And they're playing it again right now as I type this.

Such further moves, and this station won't survive.

Imaging sounding very louzy and last minute made material. This can not be the real imaging. No Pebbles in the morning yet.

Hopefully they open up the playlist... Play some Freestyle. It seems they play a (pardon the pun) Hot song, by a recurrent (3-7 years old), then a gold (7 years plus). Then rinse and repeat. I do like it better than AMP, Kiss And Jamn though. Not as much as I like the new 101.7 though.

6 weeks of 13,000 songs. You're probably looking closer to 3rd week in February for the morning show debut.

Yes, commercial free. But that not means no DJ's...

There is no way they are playing 13,000 songs in a row. No way. because I heard the same song played three times between 6:30pm-Midnight, as well as a few other songs played twice or three times in that time frame.
No way in he$@ is this "HOT" No way
"HOT" is usually Urban (example "Hot 106" Providence, "HOT 93.7" Hartford, "HOT 97" New York, "Power 99" Philadelphia)
What they should do to make themselves better to stick with this format, is (Play More NEW Urban AC) Program Management needs to look at "FMQB" look at the charts, there are about ?? 25-30 Urban AC songs, (Play ALL), with what they are playing now, put on "The Doug Banks Show" (There You Go, there will be your "HOT")

If they continue like they are now, they should've just stick with the name "Nova" not "HOT"

"I'm sorry, but "Funkytown 93.7 HD2" is way better than what is on 96.9 right now.

Of course there are going to be a ton of repeats. They played 3 Rihanna songs in the first 45 minutes yesterday.

Ok, I'll be a smart aleck here...I'm guessing 13 songs an hour 9 am 20 hours later approximate...286 songs played so far 12,714 give or take to go in the 13,000 in a row. ;D

Some freestyle in the mix would be great.

I was thinking the same thing... it would be great to hear some old school Stevie B., TKA, and Sweet Sensation.

KTU did this also in the in the 90's. Sounds fresh in combination with newer music. Also some remixes of hits in rotation would be great. Anyway, other versions from the hits than other stations playing.

Sure they are! 8)
They aren’t claiming to play 13,000 different songs in a row, just 13,000 songs! ::)

;) ;) ;)

That was a truly outstanding summary. Readers' Digest could learn from you. It was clear, concise, and most importantly, answered the question.
