Imaging sounding very louzy and last minute made material. This can not be the real imaging. No Pebbles in the morning yet.

6 weeks of 13,000 songs. You're probably looking closer to 3rd week in February for the morning show debut.

Yes, commercial free. But that not means no DJ's...

What part of it you didn't understand? They're going live with Pebbles so you'll have to wait 6 weeks like everyone else.
They're promoting her and that's who will kick it off. Not some DJ.

Nonsense. They don't play jockless music so long. Not gonna happen.

Giggle....I remember when WCOP was the station all us teenagers tuned to. But you couldn't hear them at the north shore beaches, so WMEX became more popular with their strong signal along the coast. WBZ was good late afternoon with Jefferson Kaye and nights with Bruce Bradley, but the rest of the day it was the station your mom listened to. Then finally The Big 68 came on and drowned out all the 5000 watters and sent WBZ into news-land. And we used to listen to music under the covers after lights-out on crummy little Japanese transistor radios with 1 inch speakers and we thought they sounded just fine.

Didn't many of the AM Top-40 stations of that era process their audio so music would sound pretty good on small transistor radios??

I seem to remember they did boost the higher frequency sounds back then. Of course, AM stations were able to use 15 kHz of bandwidth then, instead of the 10 kHz they use now so it probably did sound better. To me, AM stations now sound as if they are coming from a telephone booth. If I remember right, before top of the AM band went from 1500 kHz to 1600 kHz, some stations were authorized in that band for experimental "high-fidelity" broadcasts with larger bandwidths: I think WQXR was one of those.

On the same idea, do FM stations still use Dolby noise reduction? I remember when WVBF and WCRB used it and they sounded very "tinny" on a radio that did not have Dolby because of the pre-emphasis of the higher frequency sounds (that a Dolby receiver would de-emphasize, but a standard receiver would not).

I remember having two radios on at the same time and thinking that was stereo. I listened to Juicy Brucie play the top 15 every night. FM radios were kind of rare and the stations played mainly classical music.

I've just gotten on this thread a bit late.

Yeah, you guys got something similar to our 'KTU in New York, though based on what I'm seeing people post musically, it sounds more like what was WMGE (Mega 103.5) in Miami.

Yawn......... But at least you guys have Evolution 101.7 there! We're still waiting for ours down here. :(

My point is it's not unheard of for a station to go jockless nowadays... how long did Amp 103.3 go jockless after their launch?

Don't know that, don't follow the Boston radio market normally.

But that Pebbles chick is already in so why wait? Don't read that she start in february with here shift.

WTKK did not have an automation system.

Pretty sure they did... or the leprechaun board-ops for 96.9 HD-2 Irish do a good job of hiding.

But I wouldn't be surprised if part of the reason we didn't see a new format immediately after the final Jim and Margery show was the need to switch the scheduling system over from talk to music.
