Hot 97.5 Debuts Saturday At 12am

Well, it's pretty obvious that the page I posted to their website isn't completed or we're only seeing what they want us to see right now. I'm sure the full web page will be activated by Saturday 12:00 AM.

And given that they are currently playing Christmas music, and tomorrow is Christmas...can we safely assume that "Saturday 12:00 AM" means Saturday night/Sunday morning (not tonight?)

I take it they'll flip Saturday night... WMIA in Miami is all-Christmas right now and they're flipping back to rhythmic AC on Saturday night/Sunday. 97.5 and other stations will probably do the same.

As of 1:30 AM PT (2:30 AM MT) they're still playing Christmas music, so looks like we have about 22 hours left until the new "format" begins.

AMEN.. enough of the happy holidays its Merry Christmas!!!

Why don't they just try an Urban AC format that caters to a more mainstream audience?

I am actually a fan of urban ac if you saw me I am so not in the demographic (36yr old white guy haha) but love the music and the personalities available. I sample from time to time Steve Harvey, Doug Banks, Michael Baisen to name a few and all would be a great addition to phoenix radio.

too costly and probably don't have the budget. Salary + health coverage + other costs.. easier to do it syndicated. I do back local talent but thats just the facts of the economy

It's more of a pure Hot AC than Mix which is all over the road musically. Why radio sites are calling this an Adult CHR is beyond me. It's straight up Hot AC for 2010.

Just heard the EAS alert tone play randomly on KMVA for about 15 seconds...is that normal?

Among the songs I've heard on Hot 97.5 so far are Edward Maya "Stereo Love" and Nelly "Just a Dream" - are these typical for Hot ACs? (I have no idea; I haven't listened to Hot ACs from other markets in a long time.)

Also, I don't think there are any songs from before 2000 (might be even more recently?) on the station, at least so far. Maybe that's what makes this station more of an Adult CHR than Hot AC.

So I guess the moral of this entire story is just because a guy has a Backstreet Boys CD in his hand, that doesn't necessarily automatically make him homosexual!

Anyway, I'm liking the station quite a bit. FINALLY we have an official pop rock lean top 40 station. I love the Usher, Nickelback, Taio Cruz, Sara Barielles, Rihanna, Linkin Park, Black Eyed Peas, P!NK, and my infamous one- SICK PUPPIES! With exception for a (more) dance lean format, looks like all my suggestions/predictions/wishes have pretty much been fulfilled in Phoenix.

Ok, so maybe my thing about "classic hip hop will soon be the next big thing in the U.S." never really took off, but... oh well.

KDAY IS MIXING DANCE AND HIP HOP AND BOOTY BASS ...

WHOOOAAAAA....... hehehe ;D (And you guys thought I was the only one who knew that stuff!)

Well speaking of classic hip hop, maybe it's not exactly the next big thing nationwide like classic rock was, but at least KDAY is keeping it real in L.A. I still stand beside my prediction though! one of these days... there will be a rise in classic hip hop - to some degree.

Yes, I agree...at least I don't have to hear Rihanna 3 times an hour like KZON has played this hour. I would just be happy now if KZON would be slightly more adventurous with dance songs like its sister station B96 in Chicago is.

So boring... ugh...... time will tell if they make any dent in the ratings but from what I have heard so far.... nothing to get excited over

I'm still waiting to see what type of newer rhythmic hits they'll present. In all honesty, I wish they had stayed more of a Rhythmic AC and flipped closer to something like 93.9 MIA in Miami where I could hear stuff like Stevie B, Sonique, Daft Punk, Alice Deejay, Deee-Lite, etc with newer stuff like Edward Maya, Taio Cruz, September, Usher, The Black-Eyed Peas, etc...only I would ALSO add it stuff like Sick Puppies, Filter, Radiohead, and older stuff like Depeche Mode, the Cure, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, etc..to it.
