So boring... ugh...... time will tell if they make any dent in the ratings but from what I have heard so far.... nothing to get excited over

I'm still waiting to see what type of newer rhythmic hits they'll present. In all honesty, I wish they had stayed more of a Rhythmic AC and flipped closer to something like 93.9 MIA in Miami where I could hear stuff like Stevie B, Sonique, Daft Punk, Alice Deejay, Deee-Lite, etc with newer stuff like Edward Maya, Taio Cruz, September, Usher, The Black-Eyed Peas, etc...only I would ALSO add it stuff like Sick Puppies, Filter, Radiohead, Coldplay and older stuff like Depeche Mode, the Cure, Erasure, Pet Shop Boys, etc..to it.

I guess it's only wishful thinking.

It would be nice if they pitched their music. I'm also sure that more rhythmic leaning hits will be added in over time. I seriously doubt they are just going to continue to not play KE$HA, Mike Posner, Enrique Iglesias, and other similar things.

More music will be added in as soon as the default fix-looped playlist that is currently looping is removed and a MD is in control. They will surely become a true Adult CHR to its core. Either that, or somewhere close to it. I can than Atlanta for getting me into this hot ac pop rock sound. If it wasn't for living there without a rhythmic top 40 for multiple years, then Hot 97.5 (along with KMXP and even KPKX to some extent) would probably mean absolutely nothing to me today.

They're already playing KE$HA and Enrique.

Yes, I agree...at least I don't have to hear Rihanna 3 times an hour like KZON has played this hour.

Wow, I thought this was an exaggeration, but according to yes.com:

Rihanna - What's My Name (w/ Drake)
27.12.2010 12:55pm

: Rihanna - Pon De Replay
27.12.2010 1:23pm

: Rihanna - Only Girl (In The World)
27.12.2010 1:42pm

: Rihanna - What's My Name (w/ Drake)
27.12.2010 2:03pm

Whats more shocking is one of those songs played twice within 68 minutes.

Nothing new in radio programming concepts. In the 1960s and 1970s,
WABC played the #1 song every 70 minutes.

I've heard of 2 hour rotation, but anything tighter is alarming to me

You must have forgot about Party Radio 103.9 circa early 2000.

in reading allaccess yesterday I see many other stations flipped out of their xmas music for something new. Hmm really wish we could have done what seattle did and flipped to modern ac but no we have to get another version of a Hot AC....(still not happy with the movin move)

agreed the Seattle station was almost exactly what I hoped Movin would become. Also I can't get my head around the name Hot, for a station that sounds the way they do musically. I think Star would have been a better choice.

Yeah am really lovin the click in seattle... along with a dance station I am a big fan of modern ac. Recording them now so tomorrow can listen to a good 8 or so hours of the station so I can get a better feel but so far love it. Too bad cause this type of music is not played in large here in phoenix.

Now back to HOT... today i tuned them in during my morning drive, coming home around 4, going to an appointment around 530 and back home from the appointment around 630 and during every one of those times I heard Pink. Now I must say I love Pink, saw her in concert and have all her cds on my ipod. With that said.... was disappointed to hear the same songs at four different times of the day. Someone needs to get in charge over there and take a look at their music. I know its only day 4 I think but come on... get with it HOT.

Is HOT really the most appropriate name for an Adult CHR/Hot AC type station?

On the topic of format holes, since KKFR is so pop sounding over the past year or so, it would be awesome to see The Beat add some current hip-hop into their mix. For instance many of the currents on Power 106/LA that aren't getting play in the Phoenix market.

I still believe that once they get rid of the looped playlist of songs, things will change up at KMVA. As far as P!NK, her song is in heavy rotation on a lot of stations, including WWWQ. It sort of tends to stand out when put in heavy high rotation because (I think) most chr top 40 folks are used to hearing more rhythmic sounding hits in heavy rotation, rather than something that's straight up pop rock. It's even more noticeable when a pop rock song is in super high rotation when most of the rest of top 40 is rhythmic sounding, and having ONE station playing a lot of current pop rock will not make the P!NK stand out less because subconsciously you are already aware of that song from how much it "stands out" on other stations. In addition to all this, add in the fact that the song itself is somewhat unique, but catchy, and is somehow more noticeable in repeat than other songs from within the sea of sameness that all "sound the same".

They are definately sounding a lot more Top 40 than Hot AC. They are playing much more rhythmic material than you would normally hear on a Hot AC. Now granted, they have added much more pop/rock, IE: Fall Out Boy, Jason Mraz, Matt Nathanson, Rob Thomas, Lifehouse, etc. The rhythmic songs though seem to be dominating the playlist, and I think it should be the other way around. They are pretty much the same station, minus the back in the day hits. I also think they should have canned Elvis, Seacrest, and Bush. Not much music is played in the mornings, and I'm not sure that's such a good thing for them launching a new format. Looking at their playlist on yes.com, they seem to alternate a lot with a rhythmic, then a more pop rock song. You won't find too often they actually play two or more pop/rock songs in a row. I guess they want to position themselves between Mix and Kiss. I still think they should drop a lot of the rhythmic material.

Looks like everything is unfolding exactly as I've expected. I see the music arrangement and other details turning out nicely. I see they're becoming a "proper" pop rock styled top 40 station, with the musical arrangement pretty much being a pop rock hit as every other song. Somewhat like WWWQ, they have a distinct pop rock top 40 sound, which is a type of top 40 sound that Az. has been lacking for a while. Whether or not it will be as successful as it would seem here, I don't know. But, with all that being said, I'm guessing the "music playlist loop" is no longer, or some changes have been made to the playlist since their first two days.
