Hot 97 Boston Coming Back This Fall!!!

Less than 4 days till Hot 97.1 "WHOT" goes on the air.
How about getting the FCC to shut them down immediately after they go on the air? Get WTKK to turn off its transmitter 5 minutes before "WHOT" launches, then triangulate Hot 97.1's signal and bust them before they finish saying "we the best". For WTKK, it's worth 10 minutes of being off the air rather than months of interference.

I can't wait to hear about its demise! There's only one Hot 97. It's in New York and it's legal.

I know of one in Jackson Mississippi Which is WRJH HOT 97.7 and they are legal. I believe they are a Radio-One affiliate

WRBJ was the sister to then WRKN 970 in Brandon, MS.. owned by an old husband and wife team.

On Top Communications was leasing WRBJ but went bankrupt. THe husband died and the wife lost both stations in a court settlement/judgement.

Right, because the company that just recently laid off a bunch of people is in a position to flip a simulcast signal to a format that failed once already (how did they come to have the signal in the first place again?) and hire a staff to run it. Riiggghhhttt.

I do wish this was an FCC station because u could get alot of Marketing out, and make jamn 94.5 switch up their style a lil if the station do give problems in ratings, and i dont live in boston but spen my h.s. years there every summer so my station was hot 97.7 because i felt that was the only station that was urban for the African American Community.......... well to me jamn 94.5 been suck since i started to go up to boston summer of 02 the only djs i really respected was DJ Geespn, Bobby Blze and Roy barboza the rest sound like they belong on a top 40 station

Ratings aren't everything.... just because ratings are down doesn't mean billing is bad.

Radio One is GARBAGE ! Radio One didnt know that 1090 is a daytimer signal, when they purchase it from The Nash People ( DUMB! DUMB! DUMB! ) FCC fine Radio One-Boston alot, Because Radio One was just being STUPID ( Telephone ). Radio One should had put on a Fulltime Urban A/C on 97.7 , not a Half and half format crap ( classic R&B in The mornings and Gangsta Rap in the afternoon ). Radio One didn't do enough of anything good, here in Boston . I wish Radio One just sell 1090 so W- I- L- D call letters will be in good memories with the old Nash station ( Not the trash it is now) .

well i dont want to talk down on Radio-one yes they did a mistake with the wild format n hip-hop format in Boston but i do feel they were lazy with not making WBOT-FM Hot 97.7 compete more with Jamn 94.5 because Hot 97.7 came out in 1999, and after 7 years they was gettin killed in the ratings. i felt like they could of made some changes to make the station rating go up atleast near jamn 94.5. as for WILD-FM yes i do agree their format didn't make since too me R&B day time, and Gangsta Rap at night. In my opinion sound like a college format maybe i guess. i could see another radio company doing a better job then Radio-One in boston if they flip to an urban or urban ac station but thats jsut my opinion i could be wrong.

I miss Star 93.7 ( not coming back) but future of Radio is 93.7 Mike FM ( Tape, Voicetrack, No on-air radio personalities, Ipod Radio ). Radio is DEAD !

I'm sure Entercom will not do ANYTHING independent with 97.7. They bought it for $30m for the sole purpose of bringing WAAF's signal to Boston proper and the metro within Route 128, after they found that their move of 107.3 from Paxton to W. Boylston didn't help that purpose.

After the purchase price, and maybe some occasional maintenance and tower rent, I'm sure 97.7 costs Entercom next to nothing in expenses for simulcasting WAAF. And, notice all the billboards they put up around Boston and the immediate suburbs saying "Get WAAF on 97.7!" They still see 97.7 as their ticket for giving WAAF a competitive Boston signal, and getting advertisers in Boston, against WBCN. Nothing more.
