My opinion, Entercom should bring back Star 93.7. But this time, play more New Soul music, , and new soft hits music, play all NEW music, and play some NEW Country Slow Jams music.
Star 93.7 was almost simular to W I L D AM. (I said "Almost")
Anyways, that's my thought. They should bring back Star 93.7

But where would Entercom put it, on 97.7? Mike FM does too well to garner a format flip.

I'm sure Entercom will not do ANYTHING independent with 97.7. They bought it for $30m for the sole purpose of bringing WAAF's signal to Boston proper and the metro within Route 128, after they found that their move of 107.3 from Paxton to W. Boylston didn't help that purpose.

After the purchase price, and maybe some occasional maintenance and tower rent, I'm sure 97.7 costs Entercom next to nothing in expenses for simulcasting WAAF. And, notice all the billboards they put up around Boston and the immediate suburbs saying "Get WAAF on 97.7!" They still see 97.7 as their ticket for giving WAAF a competitive Boston signal, and getting advertisers in Boston, against WBCN. Nothing more.
You and Retro sound right. I also miss Star 93.7 also @Rapking, you also sound right on that point.

It was just an idea. 93.7 already has Funkytown on their HD 2 station. These companeis see what is happenning with all these Urban and Urban AC Pirates in Boston that you can only hear in Dorchester/Mattapan/Roxbury area, but these big companies not doing anything about it.

My idea was to just bing back Star 93.7 and or switch Funkytown put that on 93.7, and (put MIKE FM on 93.7 HD2) But this time have Funkytown 93.7 (Star 93.7) play all NEW music (New Soul, New Smooth Hitz, New Country Slow Jams, New Smooth Dance Music=Play ALL NEW music!!) That'd be my idea. (just idea)

I miss Star 93.7 too. If I had my wish, I would like to see a station do an early 90's Rhyyhmic dance format. A lot like what both Kiss and Zou were doing during 90'-92ish, and what was on top of the charts back then too.

I am sure we will not see that at all, but one can still wish. ;D

Finding out that 97.1 and 97.5 will NOT work because of adajecent channel. 97.3 has 50kw from New Bedford that does make it into Boston.

Maybe whoever built that site did it just to see the reaction of this message board. I'm not holding my breath for it to hit the air either.

yeah yeah, good idea

Okay, I don't have the attention span long enough to sit through all these messages so in short I will say this.

1. Pirate or not, I support this station coming on the air. ONLY, if the station brings something to Boston Radio that we haven't had since 2000. A good and broad spectrum of music from Urban AC market. That means playing more than the same 30 songs and an old Ice cube track every 3 hours like WJMN. Also, a REAL urban morning show for the 17 - 30 something black and latino crowd. (russ parr like)

I saw earlier someone posted a remark about the urban minority audience having enough stations to pick from. That is a total lie, just the same as live entertainment in Boston for that exact same market is SCARES!! Boston needs to revamp in the urban(minority) market period.

Someone also mention the FCC needs a do over, and I agree. The overhaul on the FCC is long over due. The president in my eyes has the power to do as he pleases in this country. (i.e. Bush) The FCC started with a president and will most likely be changed by a president. Only thing Obama has to do is set the wheels in motion. That most likely will not happen for some time, or not even with him.

105.5 ( Worcester Hip Hop and R&B Station ) is NICE ! Pirate radio RULES !!!!
