Hot 97 Boston is Back ( Legal )

Nick said:
I doubt they paid the royalties for either their Internet stream or FM broadcast. They should be forced to pay the same royalties as a major-market FM station.

It's BS that they didn't know that someone was broadcasting them on 87.7, when they bragged about their 5000 watts on 87.7 right here on Radio-Info. http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?topic=156417.0

I very much doubt that they were using 5,000 watts. Notice they also said they were broadcasting in HD Radio... an equally false claim.

a few months after switching to 87.7 they were pretty obscene power levels. audible on hilltops in Providence, full quieting on the highway past attleboro, brockton. maybe it was same TX but still at 1 Westinghouse roof vs some house/tree in Hyde Park?

Just a couple hundred watts can get out surprisingly far when you're on a clear frequency. They were at pretty decent elevation in Dorchester.

Interestingly, though they "weren't responsible for the over the air broadcast of their stream", the OTA broadcast went down at the exact same time as the raid and hasn't come back on since.

Who does this guy think he is? Were we all born yesterday?

The Wilbur Theatre send out a tweet saying " Don't worry, we are legal". I guest some Hot 97 listeners was worried about there Wilbur Theatre tickets.
