Houston area radio notes (update thread)

Yeah it's "Zona 99.5" "tropical y urbano". Their legal ID sounds like it says KMJQ HD3 (hard to hear with the music) and then the old IDs of the 2 99.5 translator calls. KMJQ (or any other station in the market) has not added a new HD3 or changed formats.

There have been some rumblings about new originating HD signals launching in order to bring some translators in compliance. I would keep an ear out for those, especially on KMJQ or KBXX. With the KBXX HD-2 currently inactive and no HD-3 on KMJQ we could see three more HD originations hit the air. Perhaps leases would start July 1, and Zona has their TOHID ready for that?

Those rumblings have been going on for a while. La Mejor and power were supposed to move to either 102.1 HD and 97.9 and it didnt happen.

I guess they didn’t bother to update the ads.
Just heard an ad saying

Brought to you by LA 99.5 the real power of the radio.!

I heard the TOHID just now, and it does give KMJQ 102-1 HD-3.

Of course translators have fibbed about originating stations in the past, but we’ll see if this one materializes. Not near an HD radio at the moment.
