Houston is now in "The Zone"!

I'm hoping its a daytime soft station that wakes up at night. If this is Cox's answer to trimming down ratings for the successful Buzz, its pretty weak. Sounds like 90% of "The Point" playlist is still loaded. I'm curious to see what's on HD2 when I get to the office. The main frequency sounds like "Pat FM"s little sister's station...

Im not a PD or con'sultant but i'd model a 80s 90s classic alternative station like the late XM Lucy channel. Play your core artist and songs but rotate in a fresh batch of more obscure/forgotten tunes every few weeks or so to keep a classic format fresh.

You're right. It sounds like the same limited playlist they were already running. Only the name has been changed. What a joke on the "Point" listeners.

I seeme to remember that all cox stations havea very limited play list and burn out songs. I remember when they had an AC statin in Dallas, you would here "From A Distance' by Bette Midler every hour.

Buzz better keep their eyes on their 35-64's.

I'm not kidding, this "alternative hits" playlist is as flacid as they come, midtempo rock and ac hits. They need to consider growing a couple when they bring in personalities or the station will end up in the atomic dustbin.

Soft!?! They are currently playing She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult.

Yes, soft. One Cult song, followed by 2 Depeche Mode songs that were already played by "The Point", Peter Gabriel, and ah yes....The B-52's.
Heard the Presidents of the United States' Lump earlier, but if this is the answer to knocking the Buzz down from #1, then someone asked the wrong question. It sounds to me like 106.9 is going after a piece of 103.7's 0.6. I've affectionately started referencing the station as "The Zoint." Still playing the 80's and more, just different more.

Early thoughts: That's a really small-market-looking logo. Also, possibly the biggest loser will be the 103.7. Time for Cumulus to pull out that format wheel again.

Are they stunting or is there real format 99.1 & 96.5 both make this weak format

Were it not for the total lack of Def Leppard and Don Henley, I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the Point and the Zone.

And memo to the powers that be at 106.9: Edwin McCain, Duncan Sheik and Train are NOT alternative and never will be. My kingdom for one XTC, Sex Pistols, or Smiths (non-How Soon is Now) song.

This isn't new. Listening to it, it sounds just like "Point"less, except new name and a different song or 2.

They would've had a bigger impact goin Urban than going with this. Ratings-wise, I don't see this format doing any damage to The Buzz, but only to 103.7, which really wouldn't make a difference anyway because they are already stuggling due to their signal.

I like the logo against a brick wall... kind of like what this format is up against, symbolizing a dead end pretty much if it isn't programmed right

I don't see how these big radio corporations cannot see that an Active rock station is what we need here and that is what would be a real competitor to the Buzz. It's amazing how nobody seems to try it. I want to hear some Pantera, Godsmack or Ozzy on my way home from work!
