Nice to see Ktrh not in the top ten don't think they have been in top ten since erickson got ops manager

Hey Zork; there has not been one spoken word station in the top 10 since Arbitron converted to PPM.
Welcome to 2012 !
So it's been almost a year now; how's that new All News station doing?
It seems I recall many of you predicting the end for KTRH.

....and it did. The name is still there, the calls are still there, but KTRH is ANYTHING BUT "News Radio". Sad. The station sported the line "Depend on It" for years, now...if there's an emergency in our region you can depend on KTRH to not be covering it. That's ok, though. Look just below your prized KTRH. You'll find KUHF and the fine folks at U of H knocking at your door of news/talk dominance. Will they over take KTRH as the news/talk station of choice for Houstonians? Depend on it. ;D

Well hello Erickson, Nice of you to join our discussion.

Before, during and after Ike seems I recall KTRH providing 24/7 coverage. Station still runs the proper amount of news every hour, every day 7 days a week. If there was demand for 24/7 news wheels, we'd provide. It's 2012 and 24/7 news on radio is no longer in high demand. See KROI's ratings.
Maybe once and for all we can agree that Erickison knows what he's doing; at least based on the facts. I know things like ratings, revenues and facts aren't as important as hanging on to what was important 20 years ago!

That, easy money, is true. KTRH did provide wall to wall coverage during a natural disaster the size of Ike. So did almost every other station in town. Even the rimshots KFNC and KHJK, simulcasting Ch.11's audio, did so.
My concern is not with the lack of information and news being delivered during something as large as a hurricane that gets every broadcaster's attention. My concern is when I'm trying to commute to work one of these mornings and there has been major flooding around town. Where will KTRH be? Used to be, if major storms were in the area, KTRH was all over it giving the proper amount of coverage depending on the severity of the weather. As a listener, I'd like to be assured that KTRH will be on top of it when it happens as it always has been. The problem is that is no longer the case. Several weather events have happened in the past two years and KTRH only gives that information in between the talk shows now. Move the talk shows over to KPRC in an instance like this and truly cover the events like the station used to and this listener (and I'm sure others) will always turn the dial to 740 when I need it. After all, it is our heritage news station.

KLUV still #7 in Dallas. KONO still #3 in San Antonio.

Still waiting for oldies / classic hits in Houston.

I believe classic hits done right would do well in the ratings.

Even if Clear Channel were to simulcast KCOL out if the triangle on one of their stations, it would do well.

That "we'd" provide? So who is this really? Erickson himself? Robles? Berry? It's obviously one of the "braintrust" responsible for the trainwreck that KTRH has become. Way to play it close to the vest...

More than likely Berry... he showed up on this board right after the departure to Florida of "the Clear Answer" . Purpledevil hit the nail right on the head from this listeners viewpoint... when it comes to local news as it happens... KTRH has been left in the dust by 92.1.

Poops
