Houston Will Soon Be "Point"-less...

anyone thinking of when this flip will happen??

If it does, one thing is for certain.... 20 years from now you can tune in and it will be "the new something something" like the other Cox stations!

A good guess would be 1//1/11... right after the xmas music goes away.

formats: rock or urban would be my best guess... theres a huge void for urban ac though

I won't speculate, but with a name like "The Zone" and the ESPN contract with Cumulus up at the end of the year...the mention of another sports station isn't so far fetched. Of course, that opens up the question of what becomes of 97.5?

When it comes to the Point, I've learned to believe it when I hear it. 106.9 has been "flipping" for the last 5 years.

I remember they were in the process of flipping sometime back in '04. Got rid of the original vo guy and went to an in-house generic voice for a couple months then went back to the previous one. I don't recall the reason they decided not to kill off The Point. Houston's got enough sports stations, I doubt Cox is picking up ESPN. I think because they took a bite out of The Arrow, they feel they can take on The Buzz.

true. Houston doesnt need another sports station but I'd be glad to see one on a stronger fm signal than 97.5.

what would happen to 97.5... cumulus has never known what to do with that signal. been around since 02. started hip hop & R&B flipped to Urban AC flipped to News flipped to rock flipped to sports..

they dont know nor care over there.

With the zone it does sound rather sporty or in alternative... i'd rather see a hip hop here though. but whatever it is JUST HURRY UP!!!!! WE NEED SOMETHING FRESH

It was around much longer than that. Originally in Beaumont for many years as KAYD. KAY-D Country on 97.5 went back a long way. THEN, it was moved into Houston, well at least part of it.
Here is it's current coverage:

What to do? Perhaps program it to southeast Texas and go after those advertisers. Forget Houston; it's covered. As you can see, you could go for those in Beaumont, Pt Arthur, Pasadena, Baytown, Galveston, Texas City, Kemah, Seabrook along with the rest of the bay area.

Just do something!
