bob and tom don't matter and they are boring. nothing like the show they used to do that made them stars.
I think the reason no one talks about them is because they dont do anything worth talking about. I do give them credit for still making lots of money though ;D
Still entertaining sometimes. No longer market relevant. Their website doesn't play up where they are because they are so many places. Being everything to everyone. All the sudden nothing to anyone can happen.
I watch them on WGN and CH 4 late night. Still funny within certain boundaries. I didn't care for all the sexual innuendo, but some was okay. Jerry and Dean are gone and "blow me a kiss" is apparently gone too. I don't car who ya are, Electric Amish are still funny. You won't hear any bits for the I-69 diner, anything about local people and places, and the things that "made" them and this is the loss. No Amish in Los Angeles, New York, etc.
At this point they are homogenized for the masses and this is working for them. They could relocate anywhere into a bigger market and do local appearances and do much better for themselves. (And do more local inserts for that station) Like the Pacers they could do better and probably will. If they don't move to a bigger market for this purpose they should try to let people know they are still in Indy through local inserts on the local station.
It could be their "deal" has them doing a national show with no ties to the local station. Less headaches, no local sales people to jerk them around, etc. For CC this is still a good deal. For us, it's a loss. Have I said this enough ways to emphasize we lost the local aspect?
Even if you opposed their content, they were local pre network. Now their fan base may remember their local content but how long before the lack of that content erodes? Comedians are great but the local connection is gone. Robin Williams at the Murat, ratburgers at the Colts venue was one of his local connects. This doesn't even happen with them. This having been said they can locate anywhere and the local content is not important.
The routine they do is a single big non radio event in some markets. Wow, we get to see the stars. This is the disconnect between radio and people.
I faded away as a listener when "Dick's Picks", and for that matter Jay Baker, was no longer part of the show.
Years ago, an account executive from WGBF-FM said he had a conversation with either Bob and/or Tom shortly after the show began syndication (WGBF-FM was a charter affiliate). It seems they would have been just as happy if the show had statewide distribution instead of nationwide so they could keep the content focused on Indiana.
I haven't listened to Q95's version in awhile, but they used to do some bonus "Indiana" content during the summer when Indiana wasn't observing Daylight Saving Time plus a minute of local content before each network rejoin. Not sure if they're still doing the latter.
Bob & Tom have lost their edge, but I don't think its there fault. Besides appealing to a nationwide audience, the whole crackdown on radio content is what tamed down the show and made it into a "one size fits all" brand. I ran a booth at the IBA Job Convention soon after the FCC crackdown on indecency, and one of the speakers who was a Clear Channel head in Indy said that they shelved around 70% of Bob & Tom's bits due to new corporate content rules that were implemented to prevent fines. It's too bad that the show took such a major hit, and I'm sure neither Bob nor Tom were really happy about trying to find new ways to be compelling to their audience.
I long for the days of Mo, the Love Brothers, and Dick's Picks (brought to you by Value City Furniture...where our middle name is "City"). Donnie Baker just doesn't do it for me.

Let us not forget about Jack's Tool Rental, "Don't be a tool, rent one." Then of course Dick's commercial for The Evansville Brewing Company when he commented, "...it would be the beer Hitler would drink if he were alive today."
I agree with ChiefEngineer -- and, for what it's worth, I also disagree with buttonpusher812 that they're "boring." Different people will disagree on matters of taste ... and that's perfectly ok. Don't like their show? That's cool. Change the channel.
I've enjoyed Bob and Tom (and co-hosts Kristi & Chick, plus cast and countless guests) for 20+ years, up to and including this very morning. This description of their show seems perfectly apt: "Mischievous ... but the underlying attitude is uniquely good-natured. They poke fun at themselves and everyone around them."
They still do some local content in the minute which precedes each network segment and also for another ~15-20 minutes after 10:00a. Yes, having less time to be so relentlessly "We love Indianapolis!" and to poke fun at the many things in our state which so richly deserved their targeted humor, as in their pre-syndication days, has dulled their edge.
But if that's the price we have to pay in today's broadcasting climate to have "uniquely good-natured" people on the air, for such a long and successful run, and from our home state, I'm willing to live with their "good for all time zones" kind of content. To me, it sure beats hate-mongering, one-sided alternatives like Stern and Imus. (You like their shows? That's cool. I don't, but I still think radio was weaker when Stern and Imus weren't on the air.) I still like the Bob and Tom Show. I remain one of millions of regular listeners.
Bob and Tom have had chances to move their show elsewhere in years past, and I'm glad they didn't. Is there some rule which says national shows all have to originate from LA or NYC? Doesn't Indiana continue to benefit from being home to a nationally syndicated multiple-Marconi-award-winning show?
I've been a Bob & Tom listener since '96 and a Stern listener since '06 and I can appreciate both shows for what they are. Never have I tuned into B&T and heard them sound bored, wish I could say the same about Howie. I wish there was more Hoosier-centric content like "White Trash Expo", I could hear that bit everyday and still laugh.
While I still enjoy listening to B&T, I also long for the pre-network days. Who could forget Tom and Chick going to John Price's campaign office after Price filed a complaint against B&T. Within an hour, hordes of listeners were there backing Tom and Chick. IIR, it got ugly with insults from one of Price's employees calling Chick a "baby killer". Price lost in a landslide, some think it was due to the publicity from B&T.
They are still funny (Donny Baker and Floyd Tucker excluded) for a generic show. But as for having the local edge that made them, that is long gone.
I have heard "White Trash Expo" on the network. However, it has edited down.

I listen occassionally when I'm home. I think they fit Indy well personality wise. However, they tried them in Dallas briefly and for me it just didn't fit. They weren't on long before they were replaced with something out of Houston.

They were also on in Chicago on WRCX around 1998. It did not last long and that station flipped formats shortly after. It is a terrible morning show indeed.

I never thought they were terrible, but they were only interesting to me when they were talking about Indiana stuff...Indiana stuff would not go over well in Dallas fer sure.
I have read where B&T are marketed as a small-medium market morning show. They have been on in major markets, but I think
that is where they are used to fill between format flips or when the previous morning dude gets fired, and they are waiting on the new dude
to be hired. B&T's affiliate list is usually got consistent. Not a whole lot of moving around. That does say something!!
