How does KXOJ get the Arbitrends information?

If you know how KXOJ is getting Arbitrends information, please call Arbitron in Dallas.

Here is the deal folks, we all pay a lot of money for the data. If you are taking it from you employer and sharing it with a non-subscriber, you are stealing. Why do I bring this up? Several people think the leak is coming from KVOO/KFAQ. It is not.

You can look at the front of the book to see who subscribes and who doesn't. If KXOJ wants the data, then they should pay just like everyone else.

Again, we don't need to post any names here, but you should call Arbitron in Dallas if you know where the leak is coming from.

The 12+ is the only part of the survey that Arbitron releases for the general public. If we can't plug the leak, they are likely to embargo the Tulsa data.
 
This is the first I've heard of this. What makes you think KXOJ is getting the Arbitrons? Are they using them to sell? Because obviously that's illegal.

To my knowlege, though, a station just having the knowlege isn't illegal.

I have worked for just about every group in town at one time or another since the 80's. And I know that there are individuals in every group that have leaked this info to "buddies" at other stations in the past. It's been rampant in every group at one point or another. It's appalling, yes. But to think that it's not common is incorrect. I could name three people in three different groups in Tulsa that have "pals" over there at KXOJ.

Good luck pinning it down. It could be anyone.
 
From everything I've ever heard KXOJ doesn't sell according to rating or trends... ??? Maybe Journalguy is giving it to kxojdj? :eek:
 
Maybe they just want to know where they are and aren't using the info to sell. Arbitron can stick it if they're just getting the data for info sake only. The can embargo and do other foolish things, but they can't sue.

With that being said their data is sorry and outdated the day you get it anyway, not to mention overpriced. Too bad by the looks of the way things are going like they'll be the provider of data in the future with the peoplemeter which will be even more overpriced. I personally was wishing someone else would become the industry standard.
 
We don't ask for them. Someone at another group sends them to us when they are released. We have no intention of buying them now or after the PPM. :)
We use them internally but never to make a sale. Our GM makes sure that we don't issue numbers in writing to any of our clients. It is not cost effective to buy the data. If Arbitron would lower their price and improve their service, we would rethink our stance. This station has survived without the numbers for 30 years.
 
Actually, there was a point in time when KXOJ subscribed to ratings.

But you would have known that if you actually worked for them.
 
Not true. There was a one year period where we purchased Scarborough data.
It was due to a misunderstanding with Arbitron. Part of the deal was the use of 4 books.
It was a one time deal that should not have happened. David will verify the story.

I didn't say they purchased Arbitron. I said they subscribed to numbers at one point in time.

Dayton is good, thanks. Cox is a great company. You should work for them if you ever get the chance.

I know that your identity has been a point of contention for many of us who have worked or currently do work for KXOJ. Everyone at KXOJ vehemently denies being 'you.'

Therefore...it would appear you're lying one way or another. You're either lying to our faces about being KXOJDJ when we have asked you in person. Or you DON'T work for KXOJ at all and you are lying about the fact that you do work for KXOJ.

Would you please explain this?

Although I'll bet the guy doesn't have the guts to tell who he really is in the first place.

Anonymity on the boards is one thing. Posing as someone you're not is another.
 
If the person is not on the inside, they have some access to someone who is. A lot of the information has proven true.
It appears that there are a few unhappy campers in the CityPlex Tower that would rather be somewhere else.
Or it could be someone inside that doesn't want to risk losing their job. That is what is great about this forum.
It is all for fun anyway.
 
I would agree that the nature of this forum is intended for entertainment purposes only. And it is allot of fun. In fact, this thread is allot of fun. Kind of like playing "Guess Who?" And I'm sure that KXOJDJ is loving every minute of us going round and round about who he (or she) really is.

It is interesting to note, however, the revealed character of KXOJDJ who either:

A) Really is on the inside at KXOJ, unhappy, and is lying in person about their identity here on this board to friends and to co-workers. And if they are so unhappy and don't believe in the direction of their company, they really should leave. I don't think management would really want someone on the team who doesn't believe in the team.

Or...they

B) Don't work for KXOJ at all, and are lying about the fact that they do work for KXOJ, and they are just trying to stir the pot.

Either way, we have established that this person is lying about something.

And honestly, either scenario is a pathetic character sketch of this person.

The following fact is REALLY interesting as well. Odds are that many of us on this board actually know this person, work with them, or are friends with them. I also imagine that based on the things KXOJDJ has posted, we would learn much about the character of our 'friend' should their true identity be revealed. The interpersonal, professional, and relational ramifications of that situation are intriguing, to say the least. :eek:

But on the upside, they ARE providing the rest of us with a fun diversion. So HEY! KXOJDJ! Thanks for that, anyway.
 
This is so obvious! Go back and read all of the posts.

KXOJ DJ is someone at 102.3 who wants to jerk with KXOJ.

I can't say that I can blame them. KXOJ has done a great job alienating themselves from their local industry in many ways. They're a public relations sitting duck for stuff like this.

But the people at Cox are no angels either. They're just better at mind games and smarter at sabotage.
 
Who says it someone from 102.3?? You just said it yourself that they've alienated themselves from the local industry... There's no one else to grind an axe against KXOJ? ??? I'm with Gary though... someone's character is in wack... it'll come out eventually though I'm sure...

I don't know about the sabotage thing... KXOJ has been accused MANY times of doing that to another "rival" station :D

This is inmature & I would hope this person is not a radio professional otherwise I would question the word, "professional." Wait, I guess I could say the same about KXOJDJ. ;D
 
Actually the Myspace thing is a listener that has listened to the station forever... He lives up in S. Kansas I think... he wouldn't know anything about the on-goings of KXOJ (they even spelled one of the DJs names totally wrong on the myspace site :) )

Jack and the word "professional"... We've come so far since the days of the Kross haven't we ;) :D
 
AMEN!!! Preach it my Brother!! Cox Broadcasting just sold to Hell Broadcasting a partner of Satan Media for 1 Million souls. I Satan will have total control over what airs on Public radio. I mean come on I am going to take over the FCC soon haha. I hope alll of my minions at KXOJ will understand that once I still there listeners I will change Spirt 102.3 to Satan 102.3 and play Nirvana, Tool, Manson, Alice In Chains, and then I will rule the world hahahaha. Ok seriously guys grow up we know KXOJ DJ is not an employee of KXOJ Bob has already told us that.

Strictly from a radio perspective, I actually was a fan of the Kross. I'm not a big Rock/CHR person. But from what I saw of their promotions and imaging, they did a great job with that they had.

Where did all the jocks land?
