How does KXOJ get the Arbitrends information?

I wasn't knocking the Kross if that's what it came off as... I loved the Kross! Josh Ashton (mornings) is still searching around for his next full-time gig (shoot him an e-mail if you have something "[email protected]") he is currently doing some PT/swing shift for KBEZ, and Scott is doing the same doing PT/swing shift for K-Hits... Both ended up at Rhenda... kinda strange...

The Kross did AMAZING for what they had (which was next to nothing)!

Hey gang,

I only remember to check these boards about once a month, and usually there is nothing remarkable, but this one is pretty funny for a couple of reasons. First- the whole accusation on Arbitrends and then the whole KXOJDJ thing (I thought he died- but he's back!)

First- I appreciate Gary's posts to KXOJDJ. Gary was a great talent at KXOJ and is going to be an incredible MD/eventual PD at WJQK in Grand Rapids, where he will be soon after leaving Dayton (Cox) after 1 year away from Tulsa/KXOJ. Congrats Gary!

Second- Gary and KXOJDJ are both wrong (sorry Gary) ;D. KXOJ subscribed to ratings on two different occassions, not just the one year of Scarborough. If KXOJDJ could explain details of this to me, I might be inclined to believe his claims.

And- for the sake of sport- if KXOJDJ works here now he could prove it in a number of simple ways like, post my extension #, or maybe tell us which office wall was most recently knocked down to reconfigure an office or studio. What brand mic processor is used in the Animal studio? What color is the new carpet in the foyer? Who sits in the "sales pit" now? What company runs our e-mail server? How many Dell Nexgen servers are in the rack in the engineering room? What color pants did I wear on Monday? What cereal does Craig keep on his desk? Who sits at Josh's old desk? Name a single poster on the wall in the former Kross studio, what artist's gold record was just added to the studio wall right across from where you supposedly sit? ... it would be really easy to prove yourself...

My guess? KXOJDJ is a disgruntled former employee (hopefully without a gun). But hey- I'm with Gary- it's more fun watching the posts than finding out the identity.

That myspace thing IS pretty funny-

Strictly from a radio perspective, I actually was a fan of the Kross. I'm not a big Rock/CHR person. But from what I saw of their promotions and imaging, they did a great job with that they had.

Where did all the jocks land?

Ray in the midday is a computer geek in Tulsa (love ya, Ray), Jack (me) is a PD in Cedar Rapids, IA & I think Sammy is working for one of the hospitals in Tulsa. Cody, did I leave anybody out? BTW, Cody works in Promotions at KXOJ. He's Cody "Can Do It" Junior. ;D

You left out Samantha who is now on the air at KBEZ. She was not here at the end but was a huge help in the beginning. So everyone is doing quite well and I am certain Josh and Scott will be fine as well. Both have had offers but are smartly measuring their next moves carefully.

In other alumni news, Ryan Springer who did evenings for KXOJ circa 1998-2000 or so is now a PD in the Chicagoland area and is expecing his second baby with his wife so that is cool, and Dan Ratcliffe (afternoon guy from about '99-2001') just won DJ of the Year at the GMA convention for this work at The Fish in Atlanta.

I'm going to put some flowers on KXOJDJ's grave now.

Sounds like he's been put to bed.

what's that sound? Oh, the last nail in his (or her) coffin being pounded in.

This is fun. I love drama.

Hey Bob do you guys like Nexgen? (I know its a change of subject)

For the most part. Nothing is perfect but it is miles ahead of Scott Studios IMHO. Everything else out there is worth what you pay for it (and depending on need that may be a good thing). I wish it were a little more intuitive for new people, and I wish it inherited basic Windows functions and short cuts. That would take a major rewrite though. Some great support people though. I have known Jeff since we piloted the peer-to-peer experimantal "Jr" system back in Wichita (and man was it a disaster). He and the gang are top notch and the system just never stops short of a cityplex brown out. :-\

If you have more particular questions on it give me a call.

Bob

Well I know Clear Channel uses Nexgen also and what all I have heard about it, it is very user friendly.

I'd say of any of the systems I've used, Nexgen is the best. Because it's user friendly and the instant voicetrack capability is so versatile. You don't have to lay in place holders for trax in Nexgen. In all of the others that I've seen, you have to schedule trax in for voicetracking when you build the clock.

Coming in at a distant second is Maestro DCS.

In third is Scott Studios.

Fourth is BSI.

My very least favorite is Enco Dadpro. What a piece of crap.

This is so obvious! Go back and read all of the posts.

KXOJ DJ is someone at 102.3 who wants to jerk with KXOJ.

I can't say that I can blame them. KXOJ has done a great job alienating themselves from their local industry in many ways. They're a public relations sitting duck for stuff like this.

But the people at Cox are no angels either. They're just better at mind games and smarter at sabotage.
Well, if KXOJDJ isn't at KXOJ, Then I guess I'm not really from Spirit!!
