How long is "New" really "NEW" ??

While slumming the FM dial I stopped across the Coast and heard them doing a liner. Why are they still calling themselves the "New" Coast 96.7? Didn't "New" Coke stop being new about 10 years ago?

How long are they going to keep calling themselves New and when are they going to start using the tag line Port Chester's Greatest Hits?

Bill get over it. WZMX/93.7 has been playing hip-hop music since March 2001 and they're still "The New Hot 93.7" 8 years, 1 month, and 7 days later.

I remember when I worked at KC 101, we were the New Sound of KC 101 for a couple of years.

Every single time we opened the mic, we had to say "The new sound of KC 101 means the best variety of music and Glenn and Pat in the Morning". Try saying THAT over a 10 second intro and trying to say something meaningful at the same time!

Dayton, Ohio had "The New" Z-93 for a decade or better...
Actually Z-93 was "New" on three separate occasions...89-90(The New Z-93 under Jeff Ballentine), 2001(When they were "The All New Z-93" under Randy James), and 2002 when they were briefly "The New Z-93" again(Scott Sharp was PD by then).
Fly 92.9 in Dayton has been "The New Fly 92.9" since it launched in November 2007, which makes it "New" even though it debuted 17 and a half months ago(PD at Fly is Steve Weed).

Worcester, MA's "The new 100FM The Pike" has been new for a couple of years now since they became The Pike (previously The Fox or something).

how long is NEW really new? WHEN you have to ask the question.

It's a Cox thing. I believe their 80's station in Tampa is still labeling themselves as "the new 101.5 The Point"...

In New York, "the new 103.5 KTU" is promoted as such likely to distinguish themselves from the "old" KTU...

And as long as you bring up the "New Coke" thing: That was actually a more sweeter variety of the soda that was released and different from the original Coke recipe, and it was actually 24 years ago yesterday that they stopped selling it... At least according to Fox News... Then why do I still have flashbacks of Max Headroom (circa 1987) doing "New Coke" commercials? ???

LOL! I remember "1230, the New WCOL". It was NEW when I listened to it as a teenager, NEW when I worked there, and was still NEW when I moved from Columbus. This was back in the mid 60's. I still have those PAMs jingles. ;D

Before the birth of KC101 New Haven had a "NEW" station!
13 WAVZ "The New Waves" now it's ESPN.

Is KTU still saying "New?" I thought they stopped saying new a couple years ago, when their format was adjusted more towards Rhythmic AC.

Now, did Star 99.9 start or ever call themselves "new" with the switch to 80's, 90's and today?
WEZN 99.9 just went to the Star format back in the early 90's with no mention of "new". Radio stations use "new" because they deperately want listeners to forget the old format.

In that case, it really wasn't a format change though, was it? Just new branding.

It's called deception. Radio management types are very slick at it. They think the listener really cares about that. Just play our favorite tunes and shut your big fat yappers. ;D
