As far as all this arguing between KKFR, KZZP, and KZON,
101.5 Jamz is not a hip hop station. It was meant to be
* KZZP - top 40
* KKFR - urban
* KZON - rhythmic
JamZ came in with the idea of being rhythmic, which was something we've been missing in the valley for quite some time. Rhythmic top 40 doesn't really count... and urban rhythmic with a rhythmic top 40 still doesn't really fill the gap. It should have been top 40, urban, and rhythmic, but it seems like instead everyone became rhythmic or wants a rhythmic sounding slogan. Kiss should have just kept the #1 hit music slogan since they fit the most appropriate definition of hit music. If Nickelback makes a hit song, they'll be the only one to play that hit. If Cascada makes a hit song, they're the only ones who would...well, consider it. Hits & Hip Hop was very appropriate for KZON and it would make sense that anyone who uses #1 hit music station slogan should then go ahead and add P!NK, Britney, and Katy Perry into their playlist to make it more accurate. At least 2 out of the three.
Kiss has always been labelled top 40, but chose to go more rhythmic
Power has always been rhythmic, but chose to go more urban
JamZ came in with the intent to be rhythmic. So far that's all they've done.
I guess 103.9 Arizona's Party Station should have just stuck around. That probably would've taken care of JamZ and Club 95 Latino Vibe, but still I have nothing but repsect for JamZ regardless of whether or not it's my favorite music because their entire staff are respectful.... well at least towards me. 95.1 and 98.7 too. Out of all, those two stations seem to have the most respectful staff when it comes to talking over the phone and meeting in person. Even 99.9 KEZ has a bit of attitude sometimes...
