How was the coverage in E. IA last night???

> Easy there Tom the Tiger!!! So if KCRG would have stayed on

If they had been passing on the "Don't come out...it's dangerous" message...yes, I think more people would have stayed home.

Perhaps the answers weren't available for
> gas leaks and other problems at the time they signed off.

Why would I help a competitor do their job for them?

You might
> not want to come off as bitter... but you do.

How? What exactly do I have to be bitter about? I helped scoop the "big boys" on one of the biggest stories of my lifetime. If anything, I'm feeling a little cocky right now. ;)

And you'd be wrong.

The Local Authorities

Yes, and considering all they had to get the message out were PATV, the Daily Iowan web site, KCJJ and WMT, they did an outstanding job.

> It was a Terrible Storm that

Of the storm, no. Of the aftermath, yes.

Probably Not... your just inviting them out.

> Did YOU call Newsline 9 and tell them the problems???

But your one of the first people bitching about them. Next time your partying with Bruce... tell him how they dropped the ball... I'm sure Bruce will understand! Tell that to Jared Aarons too from KGAN.

And the rest of Iowa is praising you.

Imagine that... Tommy with a hole in his pants feels a little.....

So they were watching TV in there damaged homes instead of outside with the Authorities???

Only YOU would feel cocky Tommy. I guess getting the word out to the 6 people that were listening to KCJJ might make your head swell a little bit. I love it how you say you feel cocky for doing your job. Figures. LOL.

Steve said the same thing this morning. "We were just doing our job, yet we're getting all this praise."

I guess it's a sliding scale. When nobody else does their job, just being moderately competent looks like freaking GENIUS. If you were still in the industry, it would make more sense...

> So they were watching TV in there ("their") damaged homes instead of

No, they went to neighbors' apartments after they were evacuated. This was info I got after interviewing some of them past 10:35pm...

Pathetic....

Seriously...

People lost their homes, and businesses and places of worship...
And All you want to do is bitch because Tommy made some points?

The important thing is we had a lot of damage and no Iowa City fatalities...

I was there, I did what I think was right, and if KCRG and KGAN were or weren't there, I could care less... I gave them footage, I helped them out on Friday because that is what media should do in a time like this, HELP EACH OTHER OUT...

Not compete for Emmys...

Amen.

And since he's too modest to bring it up, this is where I point out that Brad stayed on the air until 2am with ZERO compensation, despite the fact that he didn't even know the fate of his own home (which was right in the heart of the destruction).

Amen Bradman. Tommy wanted nothing to do with helping out KCRG and only wants to make points on how they dropped the ball. I'm glad you took a different approach to it rather than try to be "Cocky"!!!

Re: Pathetic....

I do want to say however, that people from KCRG called us at midnight and asked Josh Goding the PATV director if they could swing by and get footage. They claimed they were out getting food for their producer...

I'm sure Tommy LOVES you fighting his battles for him Steve! I love it how when YOU say "you're just doing your job" it's "giving credit"...but when I say it, I am a "dick". Wow...I am really beginning to see why you've worked at so many stations and how you've burned so many bridges (hmmm...a coincidence with the name??). I guess when someone's worn out their welcome with SO MANY employers, the only thing left to do is become self employed. You deserve yourself "Captain."

here's how stupid you are...you only know i've said i had a lot of employers...but you really don't know how many...you only know what i say on the air..on my show...its a show...and you are just another listener..truth is in 41 years..i have never been unemployed....EVER...i always have had a job in radio and on the air. But you wouldn't know that because all you know of me is what i say on the air. You are the reason i have managed to raise a family and own two radio stations...going on three....because i didnt waste time associating with [deleted] like you that can't say anything good about anyone and walk around with a big goddamn chip on their shoulder. God hates you. . . You are just a very stupid bitter man. Everyone knows my name...my number is 319-354-1242...I'm also in the book. Why not tell us who you are? stevekcjj
Edited by The_Outsider on 04/20/06 10:54 PM.

You know who I am Steve. As a matter of fact, I have actually spoken to you twice in the last three weeks. As for your constant personal comments attacking my character, I will let the administrator take care of that. You're beginning to alienate everyone around you. Tommy is fed up, your listeners are tired of the "dirty laundry" being aired. That's just not good radio my friend. Hell...even Anthony got away from you. And look at the lengths HE went to!
Edited by The_Outsider on 04/20/06 10:53 PM.

Captain Steve's empire grows...

"going on three"??? What does he mean by that??? Are the rumors true???

Let the rampant speculation begin! :)

If I lived in the IC area I would have listen too KCJJ because they do care about that community for some reason?Bridges might be alot of things but one thing he isnt is a caring community person. Maybe why he refers to himself as "Capt Community".God help us all... even us up in CR..Keep up the good work Tommy Lang.... See you at Checkers

GOLDEN KCJJ OLDIES AND BRADMAN'S OBSESSION WITH THE FOOTLOOSE SOUNDTRACK

Man, it's been so long since I heard Bradman play "Holding Out for a Hero" that I had to break out my "Footloose" CD. I'm wondering if Kelly Neff could play some of the golden KCJJ Oldies, like Crack the Sky's "Blowing Up (My) Detroit", "I Was Kaiser Bill's Batman" by Whistlin' Jack Smith, and "I Owe A Lot to Iowa Pot" by Napolean XIV. Just some food for thought.
