Howard? back on FM? the speculation continues

Free speech is one thing...libel and slander in print causing undo grief and fiancial distress is another.its about time these jounalists get called on what they do!!!!He must not have been that valuable of an employee if a ''so called non entity'' cam have him reprimanded and that was the papers choice to fire him Not Howards. You can hate Howard thats cool even Bambi had enemies

Nothing about his article was libelous or slanderous. The rumor was originally posted on Inside Radio, which is a respected source in the industry. Should Inside Radio "get called on what they do" as well?

This whole thing is ridiculous. All over a RUMOR. And a plausible rumor at that. John Mainelli is in no way at fault for simply reporting a rumor that had (I stress had) the potential to carry some truth. What a huge story that would've been if it had turned out to be true.

And as far as the whole conflict of interest ordeal:
Even more ridiculous than the conspiracy theories that people are coming up with.

As has been stated on this board elsewhere, Mainelli made all of his consulting activities common knowledge to anyone who frequented his articles. The Daily News had a piece on it as well.

The guy was just trying to relay a story he thought may have had legs. Simple as that.

Howard was on FREE FM L.A. with Adam yesterday saying "I'm not coming back"

OOOOOH so he was on with Corolla (who has NO ONE LISTENING TO HIM IN LA, NO ONE) What's he going to say? " actually, I am coming back and Im taking your place Adam". Remember when the rumors swirled about O and A replacing Corolla and Rover in many markets and there were statements issued "we are full supportive of Rover and Adam blah blah blah" next scene was Rover packing his bags in Chicago on his way back to the mistake by the lake. I'm not saying it's going to happen but to be convinced because someone said it wasnt?.....why would people say one thing on air and do another? yeah it's not like THAt has ever happened before!

Stern has painted himself into a corner with respect to returning to terrestrial radio.
1- He QUIT KROCK. He complained, whined and moaned about how he was being singled out and persecuted by the FCC. He decided and announced that staying on terrestrial radio was choking his creativity and because the FCC was after him, he needed to move to a place where the FCC had no jurisdiction and he was free to express himself, ala going with his buddy Mel for a TON of money, to satellite radio. This was a smart and lucrative move for both Stern and Sirius.

2- He now swears that he will not go back to terrestrial radio, even though he has had plenty of offers. He put down O&A's move back and allegedly got a reporter fired for reporting the rumor.

O&A never quit terrestrial radio, they were suspended. I don't believe they said they would never come back. Their move was great for the hypocrites at CBS/Infinity, great for O&A, and great for XM in the way of a 5 day a week 3 hour morning drive time advertisement. If Stern hadn't been such a whiney, bitter, angry, egotistical baby, he'd have a deal like O&A, would be on satellite and terrestrial radio, and would be sitting even prettier than he is now financially. Further, he'd have the 'relevance' he so desires instead of being relegated to the land of obscurity with an audience a mere shadow of what it once was. To return now would make him look like a fool. IMO the bottom line is he whined himself into irrelevant oblivion, but time will tell. He may yet pull off a deal with a terrestrial broadcaster where he would have to excuse away his previous comments by singing the praises of his new business partner's hi broadcasting standards, or some nonsense like that.

I am not a fan of either Stern or O&A from a programming perspective, but I do have some respect for O&A because of the way they handled themselves during their suspension period and their move forward. I have no respect for Stern, a man who whined his way out of the public eye, and now continues to whine just to regain the publicity he gave up.

WHAT? you're not a fan of either from a programming?......you're so full of it you might as well have pulled out pom poms and done a O and A cheer. You're clearly a member of the "O and A army" which is fine, I think you even have a point or two but why not be honest about it. And how did they handle themselves during their suspension? they didnt have a choice, Anthony was not heard from and Opie tried to sneak his way onto a few other radio shows of his former affiliates. I dont blame him I might have gone nuts not being able to do my job either, but you have respect for O and A because of the way they handled themselves during the suspension?.....what exactly do you think they did that they should be respected?..that doesnt make any sense.

Not only am I not a fan of their programming, but my radio subscription is to Sirius, which makes tons of sense considering I'm an O&A cheerleader, right? Not that I have to prove myself to anyone, but take a look at the Sirius and XM message boards on Radio-Info and look for my name. You'll see plenty of Sirius comments and questions, not one XM post. I find that type of shows both of them put on sophomoric and unfunny. Its just not my type of radio. I actually feel both shows belong on satellite and both crossed that imaginary decency line far too often (a different, old and tired thread.) I listen to Imus, not because I think he's very good, but he brings the best guests on the radio IMO.

My point, you have no basis to call me a liar. There are actually people in this world without agendas, who call ‘em as they see ‘em. I'm interested in your substantice RADIO opinions, not your character attacks on people you know nothing about.

I can only go by what you present and you presented a very pro O and A, anti howard Stern perspective. Sorry if you took offense at my calling it as I sawit.

I dont' take offense at your opinions, I take offense at:
"you're so full of it you might as well have pulled out pom poms and done a O and A cheer."

Anyway, enough said...lets move on.
