Howard Stern vs. Rush Limbaugh!

Even if one feels that the country is headed in the wrong direction and that Obama is the worst President in history, that does not mean the same person can't find Limbaugh off-base or even repulsive. In fact, that's the kind of simpleminded, false "logic" Limbaugh thrives on, and it's scary how many people fall for it. Many of these are the same people that like -- maybe even need -- to be spoon-fed by Fox News, since it's so hard for them to pull together their own thoughts. Chilling.

So who or what do you listen to for your news?

It's all over the place, but my two main sources are (1) wherever self-chosen links from Google, Yahoo and RealClearPolitics take me (which ends up being a combination of fairly balanced, liberal and conservative sources); and (2) since I'm in Columbus, the Columbus Dispatch, which has a slightly conservative slant to the news and a highly conservative editorial board. I like CBS Radio All-Newsers when travelling, especially WBBM Chicago.

Not so much TV or radio, except for local.

FYI, I'm taking myself off notifications for this thread, and don't usually check out the NY board, so if you want to discuss any further please PM me.

Limbaugh is a one trick pony. Here is his whole show.....

I HATE LIBERALS. I HATE DEMOCRATS. I HATE THE PRESIDENT.

The end.

I agree. Dead air is better than hot air.

Yeah, I like sticking my head in the sand too. Just put down the newspaper, turn off the TV and radio and go watch Jackass 3D at the theaters. On the way home, swing by Blockbuster and pick up Idiocracy.

These shows are not news. They are entertainment.

Another one who doesn't listen to the program...

...one doesn't have to listen to Limbaugh to know what he's going to say. He's more predictable than the second clicks on WWV. Stern, on the other hand, manages to provide a lot more actual information between the lines of his entertainment, and is not nearly as predictable as Limbaugh...

Actually, he isn't very fond of RINOs a.k.a John McCain and Mike Castle. McCain had to be the most un-energetic, tired, "old looking man" to ever run for the presidency. The republicans were screwed from the start.

I like people who can think and make interesting commentary on the news...Limbaugh, Steyn, Kudlow, Belling, Jay Weber, etc.

Long, long before there was Rush Limbaugh, there was Warren Freiburg.
::)

And Morton Downey Jr. (who Limbaugh replaced in Sacramento, foisting Downey on us Chicagoans at then-WMAQ). And Joe Pyne before all of them.

But (since this is a New York City board), I doubt that too many people outside of Chicago even know who Warren Freiberg was. When I first heard Limbaugh on WLS in August 1989, I thought it was Freiberg. I'd never heard of Rush Limbaugh until that day.

Long before there was Howard Stern there was Steve Dahl and Garry Meier.
::)

IIRC, Dahl and Stern both worked for a station in Detroit in the mid or late '70s. Dahl used to accuse Stern of ripping off his act.

I wish I still had that tape of Freiberg trashing Dahl's morning show. I know it's on YouTube now, but I had the full show at one time.

WWV is the U.S Government short wave time signal station.
