Howard's replacement

Hope I'm on the right board for this question. Haven't been able to keep up
with who Infinity is going to replace Howard with. News on the web is a bit confusing. Are they going with David Lee Roth, or Adam from lovelines?

Anyone know?
______________

Yep. As far as I have heard, they're looking at East Coast/West Coast with Dave and Adam.

Their plan, at least at the start, is to have 5 or 6 "regional" hosts. That will probably pare down when either (a) stations flip formats; (b) some of the lessers bomb; or (c) as I predict, David Lee Roth will so absolutely horrible as to cause a widespread change.

Thanks Johnny. Not sure I agree with you on David Lee. From what I read his try out in Boston went very well. I've also had the chance to hear him on the radio being interviewed, and he interacted with callers great. The only thing I can see sinking Dave is his giant ego. It's what has hurt him his entire career.
______________

That's just one consideration. What happens to the show after about a month or three--when the novelty begins to wear off, for both Dave and the listeners? When he doesn't have the fire burn as bright? What if he gets a slow day and not many calls? Can he handle it on his own? And will his supporting cast turn into a "zoo" in the negative sense of the word?

Howard's show is nonsense, but relatively scripted nonsense. Z100's morning zoo was organized nonsense. When my fraternity buddies would rudely interrupt my show in college--it was unorganized and unscripted (and thankfully, after 10pm) nonsense.

Free FM

Unless they go with this FreeFM network idea and Roth in East Coast Morning Drive (overnights in the West) and Adam in West Coast Morning Drive (mid-morning in the East). Under thie scenario Jay Severin would talk afternoon drive in the East (early afternoon in the West). No word if there has been any progress in signing Mancow who might get a midday slot.

It sounds like sort of Gen-Y version of Air America - more smart a**, more attitude, less politics.

Dead. Emmis won't let him go. Dead as of two or three weeks ago.
