I've not been to Boston in a quarter century (and that was a 10 day visit spent attending meetings and seeing historic sites). I've never heard Howie Carr. I've no dog in the fight over his merits as a talk show host. But I think its obvious when a thread is being hijacked from the original topic and turned into a mud-slinging match.
Please guys, if you're professionals, act like it. Dissing one another just degrades you and your own reputations; I guarantee that Mr. Carr is likely neither pleased or offended, if he even knows this board exists, which is unlikely.

As a radio listener in Boston I can testify that Howie Carr has spewed misinformation and low-brow race-baiting hate-speech for years - and has done nothing else on radio but that.
He's joined on WRKO by the excrable Jeff Kuhner, who does a more psychotic version of the same thing but relying on the same ten or so callers who call him EVERY DAY - sometimes more than once and many of whom also call Howie frequently - in the years I've listened to WRKO I've never heard them allow multiple calls by the same few people the way they do now.
Radio professionals can debate around insider matters like cumes and ad-sales, but to the Boston-area public, right-wing hate radio is deservedly mostly un-listened to Boston.
Before anyone thinks of the usual snark response "so why do you listen to them?" - I listen to a lot of radio and don't rely on any one station - hate-radio is an outlier, but a noisy ignorant and misled minority consumes that stuff and are influenced by it, so it can't be simply ignored.

Most of us would prefer to talk about radio today.....rather than dwell on trashing people from 30 years ago.
Radio is full of great stories, great programming, wonderful personel (and, yes, a few not so nice people.)
This board is vibrant and fun when people talk about their love of radio, not unsubstantiated personal attacks.
Posters earn respect when they share their love of radio...not use the anonymity to settle scores and start personal rumors.

Another case of Entercom playing fast and loose with FCC rules requiring sponsors be identified.
remember a small AM just got nailed for 187 grand for the same thing
not only don't they disclose Barry Armstrong's show is leased time, the Non 24 spots are paid for by Vanda Pharmaceuticals Inc.
the spots they run in my part of Florida clearly ID Vanda as the sponsor

Without getting specific, some of those financial shows " plant " calls from their offices to help direct future clients to their services. Seen it done. Total frauds.
If you're going to endlessly pimp something on the radio it might be a good idea to find an announcer who can pronounce it, something that never occurred to that 'biggest no-brainer in the history of earth' twit who used to shill for "Linux" Financial a few years ago just as frequently as the annoying PSAs are played today.
Are there any HC listeners who haven't yet caught on that his show ends at 6:51, I wonder? "I'm Howie Carr." *click*
