How's the new Alternative station doing?

I wish they would fix the HD info that is shown...it still has the WILD stuff ::)

Contact the station by whatever means you like Email, Facebook, Text, tweet, actual phone call or even snail mail (yes the US postal service will get there in a day or two) and tell them. CC is a big company and whoever is charge of the HD info most likely is not in Atlanta and did not get the memo that they changed formats. When you have several hundred stations to keep up with sometimes not everything gets done in a timely manor.

I am not a fan of alternative, but here is some free advice the fans of Alternative music:

If you want free on the air radio in Atlanta, you will have be actively involved in what happens on 105.7 or you will end up like oldies or classic hit listeners who have lost Fox 97, cool 105.7, and 106.7.

If 105.7 is to remain Alt., support it with constructive suggestions, and positive praises if the do something well.

Would you make that same statement to Power 96.1 listeners?

Not sure why you're portraying the Alternative format as desperate, just because CBS doesn't like it - like someone posted, Clear Channel is confident enough to have changed the call letters

Almost every major market has an Alternative station - CBS wanted to give the public the impression that it was a dying format, and now the joke's on them, with their 0.6 FM Sports share

^Thanks - your posts are getting better and better ;D

For real, though, I don't think they'll have a problem, just because they're filling a hole with music you really can't hear anywhere else - there's no AAA station, no other current Rock station, and Star 94 and B98.5 are playing female pop every other song

Everyone mentions the great work they've done in Houston and Philly, but there are no mentions of KTCL/Denver. It's #1 in 6+ and 25-54, something that never happens with that format.
I think 105.7 can do well in the market, not as well as the three markets they really do great in, but I think it can hit a three-share 6+ and make a push at top 5 18-34 after a few books. Can't wait to see what they do with the playlist after it gets acquainted with everyone.

Isn't pot legal in CO.?

They premiered a local music show from 8-9 p. m. tonight - most of the songs were pretty good - one was horrid, but IMO it was worth sitting through...

Interesting to note that the "likes" for Radio 105.7 has now surpassed Power 96.1. I usually don't look at facebook "likes" but with a few minor exceptions, it would seem to me that Power attracts more younger folks and so I would expect more facebook likes from their page. Not to mention, Power has been around since last year and Radio 105.7 has been in play for only a month.

Didn't power have a bunch of pages at one point? Not sure if they all still exist but I'm sure many people liked the wrong ones since the wrong ones started out with a bunch of likes already, making them look more legitimate at first.

Since the ratings surge came out last week, they've gotten much more comfortable with adding new music - "Breezeblocks" makes me want to hurl, but all the other new tracks are really good IMO

Almost every major market except for NYC-CBS killed it off four times. 102.7 in the 90s, 92.3 in the 2000s, then 92.3 again in 2009, then 101.9 in 2012 after 4 months on the air. CC should change one of its stations to Alternative to stop the overlap with Z preferably Power 105.1 or KTU.

^XCountry, Clear Channel has nothing to flip in NYC (unfortunately) - WKTU has huge ratings, and WWPR caters to the African-American community, so I'm sure it gets solid advertising $$ for that target

The only station in NYC that's in a position to flip formats is Now 92.3, and if you go on the NYC board and start asking too many questions, CBS sends posters to the forum to sit on the board all day long and defend them - I'm guessing that Now flipping to Alternative would mean people getting laid off, and would also put pressure on other low-rated CBS CHRs to flip as well - in addition (this might be the main reason), CBS can program Now much more cheaply that it could program an Alternative station, since Now can use template playlists from any of the other CBS Rhythmic-leaning CHRs

Cumulus could flip WNSH to Alternative, but I think that for financial reasons, they like to stick to formats where they can use centralized programming - probably the same reasoning as CBS

And I assume you also believe that the black helicopters are following you.

No, I don't think CBS has black helicopters - ask them when you get to work today ;)

I am liking the new music, even if every song isn't a favorite. If every song was, the station would be catering to a very small sampling of listeners. Breezeblocks is a little weird but it grows on you. Look at it this way, they don't play anything that makes me want to switch off of the station. That's a good thing.

Radio 105.7 is slowly getting there. I think what they are doing is the right way. However, I still think they have plenty more room to grow. For example, "Breezeblocks" has been on Alternative radio for nearly two months now.

Haven't been over here in a while but those May ratings for 105.7 are pretty impressive and sounds like the station is finding it's groove.

Wish our station X98.5 in Greenville was posting those kind of numbers, although I think it's doing well enough on its translator to keep going even if they only got a 1.1 share in the Winter book. (I am happy that they're also being active in bringing alt concerts to the area including Silversun Pickups and Fitz and the Tantrums).

Glad that the ATL may have a successful alternative station once again.

They are sounding good and seem to be finding their roots. CC is kinda making up for some things they have done in the past in my book anyway. I'm enjoying the new station.

Considering X98.5 has a proverbial squirt gun for a transmitter, a 1.1 share isn't too bad. What's their reach anyway?
