Huge Book For Modesto's 95-1 KHOP

a CHR/Pop station in California that doesn't lean too heavily on Rhythmic? In an area with lots of Hispanics? Top 3 in its market overall? BEATING the Rhythmics in the ratings? Yes! Such a station exists.
http://www.khop.com/

KHOP 95.1 is a true success story. It's a pure CHR/Pop station based in Modesto, a market over 35 percent Hispanic, with huge ratings (over a 7 share). It also does very well in nearby Merced, a markets thats over 45 percent Hispanic, and KHOP also pulls in some decent numbers in Stockton despite signal limitations in that area.

Just goes to show that with the right team in place a true blue CHR/Pop station can work just about anywhere :)
Here's what KHOP played this past Friday at 1 PM:
PCD "Wen I Grow Up"
Three Days Grace "Never Too Late"
Chris Brown "Forever"
Avril "Complicated"
Natasha Bedingfield "Pocketful of Sunshine"
Lil Wayne "Lollipop"
Paramore "Misery Business"
NKOTB "Summertime"
Rihanna "Disturbia"
JT "My Love"
Metro Station "Shake It"
Danity Kane "Damaged"

Fresno? Bakersfield? Oxnard? SAN FRANCISCO?! Are you all paying attention? ;)

Riverside, San Jose, Santa Rosa, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterrey I'm looking at all of you too!
Pay attention to this CHR and bring back true CHR/Pop radio to Cali ;D
Here's what KHOP played last night at 7 PM:
Kid Rock "All Summer Long"
Jordin Sparks "No Air"
Gavin Degraw "In Love With A Girl"
Kelly Clarkson "Since U Been Gone"
Boys Like Girls "Thunder"
Lil Wayne "Lollipop"
Mariah Carey "I'll Be Loving You Long Time"
Colby Odonis "What You Got"
Sara Bareilles "Bottle It Up"
Jesse Mcartney "Leavin"
Pink "U & Ur Hand"
PCD "When I Grow Up"
3 Doors Down "It's Not My Time"
Plies "Bust It Baby"

Jan Jaffries, this is what a real CHR/Pop station sounds like! This is more or less what Q-100 and KRBE should be sounding like. 95.9 Kiss FM Youngstown, this is how it's really done. Norfolk-Virgina Beach you need one of these babies too!

Day and night this station sounds off the hook. In fact, here's what KHOP played this morning (Saturday morning) at 6 AM:
Katy Perry "I Kissed A Girl"
Rihanna "Dont Stop The Music"
Gavin Degraw "In Love With A Girl"
50 Cent "In Da Club"
Jonas Brothers "Burnin Up"
Three Days Grace "Never Too Late"
Jordin Sparks "One Step At A Time"
Kid Rock "All Summer Long"
Taylor Swift "Picture To Burn"
PCD "When I Grow Up"
One Republic "Stop And Stare"
Three 6 Mafia "Lolli Lolli"
3 Doors Down "Kryptonie"
Kardinal Offishal "Dangerous"
Colbie Caillat "Realize"
Chris Brown "Forever"
Gavin Degraw "I Dont Want To Be"

CBS Radio, dump your Movin stations in L.A. and San Francisco. The Movin station in L.A. barely gets a 0.7 share on a full market signal, and the Movin in SF isnt doing all that much better. A KHOP type of CHR would more then likely post way more then a 0.7 (Movin 93.9) or a 1 share (Movin 99.7).

very cool for them. it's nice to see a balanced CHR doing well against the rest of the country who seems to lean rhythmic now.

I'm a 14 year old Hispanic from Hayward, CA and have you listened to San Francisco's Wild 949 lately it is becoming a CHR but they do play Rhythmic too.

Leave Movin 99.7 alone! (it's my favorite radio station)

and CBS does not own Movin 93.9.

I have listened to KHOP before and it is a good station.

Its called Adult CHR with a mainstream lean. Very good for those who are at KHOP. Its a legendary station!

Adult CHR works in the money department, for most owners...thats really all that matters. They are starting to work across the country too.

KQKQ Omaha
WKRQ Cincinnati
WWSR Lima
KZZU Spokane
WERZ Portsmouth
KPLN Billings
KMXZ Rapid City

kentuckymedia, those stations you've listed sound nothing like KHOP. The closest thing is maybe Q-102 Cincy.
Anyways, suffice to sa that KHOP is a true CHR/Pop station, and it defnitely doesnt lean Adult.

I believe Kiss who is a mainstream chr is beating Q in Cinci.

I have to agree with CHRles. Stations like WKRQ Cincinnati and WZPL Indianapolis are better examples of Adult CHRs that lean mainstream.

Yes, KHOP plays a couple of adult tracks that a lot of CHRs don't...and yes they have a retro lunch (KHOP plays more 90s/early 2000s instead of 80s/90s like WKRQ). However, I still think of them as more mainstream than adult. KHOP plays Lil' Wayne and Three 6 Mafia. WKRQ, WZPL, KQKQ and KZZU do not.
