Every time I heard Jeff, I kept thinkin' about . . . . Jeff's BIG OL' FISH !!!!

uuugh ! one of the all time worst local news vignettes/campaigns. Thanx channel 5

Well, that one and chan. 2's "peace in da hood" or whatever in the hell that thing was that they said at the end of their evening news for about three years straight.

Cheers !!

Loved listening to the Hull man. I think his type of broadcaster is quickly dying away, unfortunately.

You're right. Genuinely talented guys like Jeff are not as appreciated as they once were but then again radio isn't as good as it once was either and good managers are as rare an occurrence as an eclipse.

Both Jeff and Pete Combs for that matter are great broadcast assets...quick-witted, smooth delivery, execute well on air, and are versatile. I've worked with both of them in the past.

I don't know what the management issue was here but if I was a manager and wanted to shoot for great radio I would team both Hullinger and Combs together in morning drive and let them have at Atlanta. Just in those little back and forth tosses to each other they engaged in during WSB PM drive time casts displayed some great synergy and potential.

The question around here is what becomes of Jeff.
He made friends of most everyone in this place.
Is he done in Atlanta? No one is sure what to think of his future.
And another thought will the AM always be staffed 24 hours for news?

Either 680 or 790 should snag him for their morning show since both are really horrible – Hullinger could inject either with life and good substance.

Is there a list of On Air People that Cox Radio Atlanta has axed? I know some of Cox’s current and former non radio people, and say it is a great place to work. They have generous (or better) benefits and severance packages during a downsizing. Do they let people out of non-competes? I think they let Randy & Spiff out after they took The Fox urban.

Nope. When R&S moved over to cool 105.7 (Clear Channel) JJ Jackson even resorted to interviewing Randy & Spiff's wives, with R&S sitting silently in the studio, because they were still in non-compete status.

Maybe he will land at WABE. In my opinion, they have a better morning newscast than WSB and they have the only afternoon newscast that I know of.

I used to listen to Jeff do the news every day in the afternoon drive time, thats a shame, gotta love radio :(

What an odd layoff. Enjoyed him during/after the Planet Radio fiasco. I thought he was quite good at hosting a morning show.

I was thinking the same thing - remember when Tom Hughes and the Kimmer referred to him as "The Messiah"? Jeff was/is a good guy and a great talent...really weird to see WSB pull a stunt like this that mimics to such a degree the same stupidity that WGST exhibits.
