There has been a LOT of discussion about rinky-dink AM stations in small towns here on the Tennessee board lately. It seems to me that for such stations to "make it," they must have one or both of the following:
1) an FM sister station simulcasting that AM station's signal, or at least an FM translator.
and/or
2) a web presence, which of course MUST include streaming.
At any rate, an AM (only) signal, especially in a small town, ain't gonna cut it anymore! :![]()

That was from the VERY FIRST message that the rabble rouser posted here, in direct violation of section 5 (member conduct) subsection 12 of the terms of service of this board:Firepoint, Don't you have better things to do besides getting on Social Media, sticking your nose and criticizing radio station manager's and owners? You have too much time on your hands, blah, blah, blah....
Yet I take some time off from this board, and what does this troll do? He CONTINUES to stalk and harass me! He claims that I "have no life," yet he goes and digs up THREE-YEAR-OLD messages from me to attack!12. "stalk" or otherwise harass another;
So you have read all 7000+ messages that I have posted here in the seven years (off and on) that I have been here, and you feel like you can sit in judgement of me? Wow, you really DO need a life! And again, if this is such a "rumor" board, then exactly what the hell have you contributed here? All you have done is stalk and harass me (even when I was not here), so you are nothing but a cyberstalker and a troll.Firepoint,
That is the only "Intelligent" and "True Statement" you have made on this rumor board,
No shit, sherlock. But I have been OUT of radio now for almost as long as I was ever in radio, so no loss to me. Oh, and remind everyone again how you bragged about being part of Cumulus.but let me correct you on number 1:
1. FM is going down the drain with AM because the youth of America today doesn't listen to radio. FM Translators may work now, but many AMs have abused them by turning off or running low power on AM, and just promoting the FM Translator. Ten years from now, FMs will be dropping like flies, like what has happened to AM. The AM Rule is still in effect during the daytime hours, especially for Class "C" and Class "D" Stations. AMs must be on the air, on full power, at least 12 hours per day or what their license calls for, if the AM Station is a "Class D" Daytime Station.
2. Web Presence and on Line Streaming is the future! There will be a day when there is no AM or FM Stations. Today's Artist are discovered on sites like "You Tube".
The FM Band now is so junked up, some AM Stations will not be able to get a FM Translator, especially in the ones in Metro Urban Areas. This is another kick in the rear for FM Translators. The corporations that own the big 50,000 watt signals in the Top 50 Major Markets may not have a chance, and this includes WSM-AM 650. Gaylord should have never sold WSM-FM to Cumulus. I bet they wished they had not ever done it now.
Dude, you don't know me at all. Don't pretend that you do. On the one hand, you castigate me for saying the truth about radio, then you basically agree with me.You have it all wrong (sigh), I was not mocking you, but giving you credit for using your head, not your heart. I don't care who you went and reported me to, I kind of chuckled about it. They can read what was said, and it's not bad at all.
"Rabble Rouser" that's funny! I'm laughing! You pointed out some truth and you're blasting me? WOW! Most of my radio listening is On Line, as there is too much congestion on both AM and FM. When was the last time you sat in a new car and looked at the dashboard? It's changing to the point that I can't keep up with what they are doing. BMW is taking CD Players and AM Radio out of their new automobiles.
Being a part of Cumulus, that has nothing to do with this thread. This is the kind of post that I am talking about that you make. You're afraid of something, and there is nothing to fear.
Calm Down, and think about what I have said. What you said doesn't matter today, tomorrow, nor the future. My opinion, get your head out of the 1960s and the 1970s, and bring it to 2015!
You (not me) revived this dormant thread, and yesterday was your first mention of the Humboldt station. And yes, it is spelled "Humboldt," not "Humbolt." Not my fault that the OP of this thread misspelled it. I am a west TN native, and even though I am not from there, I still hate to see it misspelled.O.K. That's enough now. Let's just drop it because this thread is way off topic now. We are adults, not 16 year old teenagers. This thread was all about the Humbolt radio station, the rumors and facts about it the last time I checked.
