I canceled my sub with Sirius

I'm putting on a closed circuit tv channel in a large facility and the original plan was to use Sirius for 24/7 music.

Well, I tried TWICE about 3 days apart.

BOTH times I encountered different salespeople who HAD to SELL me. I was already sold prior to the call, but they just HAD to tell me about all of the advantages (that I really didn't care about). They HAD to tell me about NOTHING I wanted to hear. The "hard sell" and "high pressure" and "superior attitude" was entrely unnecessary and cost them a very good sale.

I HUNG UP ON EACH ONE OF THEM.

F!@# them. Instead of dealing with a 22 year old salesperson with diarrhea of the mouth, I bought OTSAV and a hundred cd's (around a thousand carefully chosen songs from oldies.com) of the type music I wanted to play and I'm doing it MYSELF.

Sirius's high pressure selling does seem excessive to me as well. Everytime you call them they insist on trying to get you buy stuff you don't want. Its a shame, I like the service. But you know, you're already paying for music you might otherwise get for free OTA, you'd think that would be enough?

Well I just signed back up after canceling my account in January. So now Sirius subscriber numbers remain the same...lol. I canceled because I moved into a new apartment that couldn't get a good signal. I'm facing East when I need to face West. But this week I decided to pull out my old Sirius Radio and fool around with it. Well something happened that didn't make any sense at all. I stuck the antenna on my dresser in the corner of the room and I got full satellite signal on my radio. The WINDOW wouldn't give me a signal. But inside away from the window that is facing the wrong way to begin with..... I'm getting a great signal!

After I stopped laughing from amazement.... I called and had my service turned back on. I'm on the top floor of my apartment complex. Maybe the signal is coming through the roof or something. I honestly don't know. But I'm just glad that I got my 134 channels and Howard Stern back!

You may be in an area that has a terrestial signal. I know XM has one in Las Vegas, I am not sure about other areas

if you're on the top floor, see what it would take to get a car antenna up on the roof and dangle the wire down to your window.

At this point, shouldn't someone be offering a 'group antenna' for building situations like this?

If you had the receiver and internet access, why didn't you just activate online? I've never had a problem w/ Sirius customer service, because I can do most everything w/out them!

I just cancelled my subscription, because I had to move the antenna about every 2 hours to maintain service. They offered me 50 ft of extra cable, and then a new radio, if I would continue.

By the way, if anyone knows a way to cancel on line, spread the word. They make you phone in, then transfer you around, hoping you will hang up.

Where are you that you have to move the antenna? Do you have it outside or inside?
