P.S. Jay says Hi to everybody out there in radio land!!!

Since you brought this topic to the board....let me ask a question...

How did "Jay" think this was in any way legal when he started this project?

My understanding is that "Jay" was not the person who started the radio station in the first place. It was his son, I don't know his son's name but I was told his son was playing beautiful music for elderly people who live in the area on weekends.

You should see his studio in Ipswich, He has better equipment than real radio stations. I wish he was still there I missed the 60s music he played.

I guess the same way every other unlicensed station that the FCC hasn't shut down would do it.

He and I exchanged an email once...and he seemed to be totally perplexed and surprised that he was actually shut down. He was hoping to get back on legally somehow. My impression is that he didn't know where the legal/illegal line was.

Did he think just because he was below 88.1 that he was OK?

Did he think that running X amount of power was somehow legal if he wasn't interfering with anyone?

It appears he was committed to this station for the long run, especially since he sunk so much dough into the studio and transmitter set up. (Nice Corian!) Really looks as though he was surprised by the FCC action.)

He doesn't seem like the typical urban pirate who knows it's wrong and is doing it anyway, just to "serve his community".

Come on people lol "like" us on Facebook lol and Don I think you may have talked to Jays son Dylan who was as FCCman said a major part of the station. They both ran it and then when Dylan left Jay took full control of the station and then I came into the picture shortly after when 87.9 The Wave became a 100% legal online radio network. You can hear me every Wednesday from 3-8 PM by the way lol. I've been doing "test" broadcasts in 5.1 surround sound during my shows since my home studio is capable of it. So far its working good and sounds great! Interestingly we are one of the first internet radio stations to use this technology. Yet another good reason to listen to us lol ;).

This is a guy that the FCC should give an LPFM, But we all know Touch 106.1 FM will get it That's how the FCC works.

Here's a news flash. Neither will get one.

Here's another news flash. Ton's of pirates and former pirates around the country have gotten licenses. So there is a chance...

As NPR learned about news flashes, check your sources.

Reality check:

#1. There is a question right on the application asking if you've ever operated a "pirate" illegal station. I don't think it's there so they can give a priority to them....so, no, it won't happen.

#2. There are no frequencies available in Boston...or even in Eastern Massachusetts...so, again, no, it won't happen.

Make lots of noice and you get what you want.
THE TOUCH OF BOSTON 106.1 a 100 watt LPFM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think RKO General thought that too when they were up against the FCC. Also the Herald Traveler too. The FCC wins no matter how much noise one makes.
