I think some of your ideas are a bit out there, but giving away stuff for a substantial donation would be IMNSHO a great idea! This could consist of small stuff like coffee cups, a radio, compact stereo or a CD made my the station. Maybe hold a dance or sponsor a car show.jas2525 said:klutch00 said:Something else worth considering is to implement alternative sources of income for the station, including accepting donations.
You may be on to something......
How about:
For a $10 donation, WECK will play an hour of YOUR selections!
For a $20 donation, WECK will incorporate your name into the positioning statements every break!
For a $50 donation, WECK will be named after YOU for a day! (It's Bev 1230)
And for a $100 donation, you decide the format for a day, AND Mr. Greene will mow your lawn or shovel your driveway, depending on the time of year.
This is ratings-proof fellas!
Bob Bittner owns both WJTO Bath ME and WJIB Cambridge MA; both of which survive primarily on donations http://wjib740.com/. I know that WPAZ Pottstown PA survives partly on advertisement and I believe partly on donations. That is really an innovative station worth checking out.

BTW I was listening to WECK online early this morning and heard some obscure tunes I've never heard before. One tune I did recognize was "Romeo And Juliet" by Dire Straits.
