I declare this the OFFICIAL WECK THREAD

Brad and Nick together 6 to 10 am? I would hate to see Tom go but maybe he just does production work and behind the scenes things and Leslie goes to PM drive? Just brainstorming here... I'm sure others have thoughts on "the announcement" which Nick M. is telling people will be revealed at noon on Thursday.

Maybe they're going to announce they're buying the 107.3 translator from Entercom and will begin broadcasting on FM!

Hahahahahahaha! Phil, you KILL me!

What was going on with WECK tonight?

My father-in-law is a huge Yankees fan and he called me at about twenty after seven to ask me why WECK was airing traffic reports for New York City. I flipped it on shortly after he called and sure enough, the Yanks-Twins game was in rain delay mode and someone apparently wasn't at the station to run some type of local programming or switch over to Fox Sports Radio.

Then later on I ran to the store for a few things and I had WECK on in the car and Laura Ingraham was on.

So maybe someone showed up and switched over after the game was officially postponed?

Brad was off today. Something about traveling out of town to drink beer at some conference?

Anyone know what the station's standard procedure is for rain delays and rainouts? I thought they had someone there manning the fort for the first few innings but apparently not tonight.

Tough break for Brad. He's out of town for one day and they get a rainout and no one is minding the store.

Some owners/managers would like to believe otherwise, but radio stations don't run by themselves. Somewhere in WNY, Tom Schuch is probably having a good chuckle.

Mr. Kramer, I sure am glad that you've join the party on this board.  Otherwise, most of us wouldn't have a clue as to what's going on at WECK.

At this rate, this "official" WECK thread will rival Radknowski's "Stiffs" thread from a couple of years back for the longest living thread ever on radio-info.com.

George, if this WECK "erection" lasts for more than four months, please see a doctor immediately!

Who is in charge when Brad is not able to fulfill his duties?

It used to happen all the time when Tom was in charge, too. Sometimes you'd hear nothing but an open mic with nobody talking at the Yankee game for half an hour or so.......I would like it when it would sometimes go to WCBS.......When somebody would finally catch it, it would usually then go to Fox Sports.

The first time it happened, Brad asked Tom if he came in to do the switch and Tom said he can actually do it from home.

Brad is talking on the air using a megaphone.

Isn't that a Howard Stern gimmick from the mid-1980s?

I love how Brad says "LIVE/LOCAL from 6a to 630pm... The ONLY STATION IN THE MARKET THAT IS..."

Brad, you do realize there are other companies in Buffalo aside from ENTERCOM...

97 Rock... (Live AND local from 6a-midnight...)

Edge... (LIVE and LOCAL from 6a-midnight)

WYRK... (LIVE and LOCAL from 6a-7p)

Soooooo.... clearly a false statement, that's all I'm saying

One presumes he means talkers, not music stations, but he probably should have made that distinction in the release.

Not sure, but it cracks me up, for some reason........If it gets recycled every 30 years, that's OK.....If you're going to a steal a bit, you might as well steal from the best.

They were in delay for a while. WCBS only says "the Yanks are in rain delay" every four minutes or so (I was folding laundry, it was annoying). Once it was canceled, it immediately went to FoxSports Radio (so someone was there). I would've come in to do my show, but I had filled in for Brad. He had a business trip that was a tour of Great Lakes Brewing Company with some clients. The "out-of-town drinking" is a joke, like you hear when nearly any radio host is out-of-town.

Also like any egotistical radio host, I get a Google Alert whenever our station is mentioned. This is the first time I've posted. Thanks for all the chatter.

At WGR we almost always had a sports person in the newsroom during Bisons games, and Pete Weber and the late Darien Chapman could always handle callers if the game went into a rain delay or was canceled. But there was an occasion when a young phenom named Rocco Pendola, a talented board-op who soaked up radio like a sponge, took advantage of a break in programming. He seized the opportunity and went on the air to talk sports, screening calls during commercial breaks and putting them on the air afterward, even doing Sports at 15 & 45 without missing a beat.

Yep, I forgot to include the word "talk." I went back and fixed it because of this thread.

Thank you.

(In case I have to point this out, I'm not being sarcastic.)

Did you see the thread on here about Rocco that was posted a few days ago?

So I try to tune in our new Midday show on the stream at WECK1230.com. Only to find my "local" talk isn't there... been listening to two sports idiots for some reason, no Mendola. What's the problem?

It looks to me like you posted this 15 minutes before Nick would even start. That could be part of the problem?
