I declare this the OFFICIAL WECK THREAD

Not sure why the time stamp says 11:45. I posted it after my lunch break at 12:45 when I got back to my desk and couldn't stream. I was listening to the show in my car when I was coming back to the office... Can anyone else confirm the stream problems? I had them again today

As I've read on another thread, the time stamp is issued by the R-I server in Chicago which is one hour "behind" eastern time.

I haven't been able to access WECK online for two straight days on the TuneIn app and also on my computer at work.

Anyone else having the same problem? I'm confused/disappointed. Please help me out Brad!

I was having a problem at three today, but then it finally cleared up right when I was going to turn it off. You'd hear loud and clear and then it would be all muffled.

Brad mentioned it a little bit later. They are definitely having some streaming issues.

Schuh gets a job that involves the Internet. WECK starts having streaming problems. Hmmmmm....

This 'live and local from 6AM till Yankee's Baseball" works for me!

Give it a few weeks to settle in and smooth out the rough edges and Brad's got a winner and those across town may have something to worry about!

Brad and Nick sound excited and really into their work this week.

The key will be to keep that level of enthusiasm going over the long term.

We all know Brad's track record at his former place of employment and his at times laid back style on WECK as an on-air personality, but if he can keep the "team" approach rolling and be a real leader as WECK's PD then he does have a chance to maybe get WECK to a 1.0 in a future Arbitron book.

That would be progress. Slow and steady progress, but progress nonetheless.

So I have a big bet ($20 per game) going on at work involving the Yanks-Sox series. Since I have Verizon FIOS I was unable to watch the third game of the series tonight. So I was listening to it on WECK when all of a sudden the Laura Ingraham show starts playing ???

I flipped down the dial to WCBS 880 AM.

Brad, what happened? I know there was a rain delay and all, but what's the point of saying you are going to be the local station airing Yanks games when you don't let the listeners hear the entire game?

Same thing happened to me. But, Brad eventually did get the Yankee game on...........I have Fios, too, and couldn't believe that I couldn't find a Sox-Yanks game. Couldn't find it by doing a search for it..........I do think, though, that somehow I was flipping it through and it looked like it was going to be on Channel 5, whatever that is, if the rain delay ever stopped.

More changes to the WECK morning show. Can someone fill us in on the new personnel?

How do you know? It does seem to be true, because now their website doesn't include Tom D.'s name on the host list.

Christina Abt is the new co-host of WECK's morning show. I do believe Tom Donahue remains in his position. I didn't get a chance to tune in this morning. The WECK website is not an indicator of who is or is not with the station. The schedule has always referred to "Good Morning Buffalo" from 5:30 to 9am and not the hosts. It seems only those hosts who blog are listed. In any event, Christina is a local writer who hosted a Saturday morning interview show on WECK. She also was a longtime commentator on WBFO. Christina is a friend, and I wish her the best in her new role.

Got it - I'm sure Christina will do an Abt job!

Oh boy.

If that station needs ANYTHING, it's a giant spark.
As nice as she may be, this move is pretty far from "it".

Really "must-listen" radio. LOL. I haven't been less excited about a radio move since hearing that Entercom switched their bottled water supplier.

No ill feelings toward the WECK staff and they no doubt are giving it all they've got, but again I must ask: can anyone name a little-to-no rated AM station(especially an indy station with a small budget and less than 5kw signal) rising out of nowhere in the ratings in a medium or large market in recent times(not counting nostalgia music formats)? Seems like a tough road to hoe.

cee : bingo :D

That is why this board has made an exclusive "Official WECK Thread" ! A place to vent, discuss, blog, admire and everything else GK!
Not to slight the impact...but the bigger fish are frying in the Industry frying pan...and the success or failure of one does not help the big picture.
Back to my reading of the threads. ;D

Another question for Brad - the Yankees game ended today a little before 6 pm and I was expecting to hear the Channel 2 News simulcast right after, but instead your board op switched things over to Fox Sports Radio.

Why ???

Scanning the AM band this morning, callers and guests paid tribute to Tom Donahue, celebrating 45 years in broadcasting. Former WHTT and WECK PD Tom Schuh to stopped by. Very nice.

Heard some rumblings and grumblings from a good source today (an actual client of WECK's) that the plan is to eventually phase out "TIME SAVER TRAFFIC" during the PM drive show.

Don't know if that is because Brad and his producer get annoyed by having to break and answer the phone and patch through Leah Militello every 10 minutes or so or if they've decided there's not much point on doing it.

The traffic reports should continue on the morning show. No traffic on a "hometown radio station" during AM drive would be a mistake.

I think very few people would complain if Brad and Dick Greene did pull the plug on the traffic reports for the ride home from work.
