Great. I don't know why they say "go to the web site" for weather. Sure I can get great weather sources off the Internet, but I can also get just as good news sources off the internet also. I have no need for the .2 channel any more. Glad KENS is still showing the radar on .3.

well i usually have my tv on the weather radar, i don't really watch anything on tv anymore. it maybe time to just turn on the tv when the local news is on and turn it back off. it's tv in general i don't like anymore.

That's all well and good, but one of the first things the weather-types on TV tell you is that during a thunderstorm you should stay away from your computer!

To repeat...I hope Belo doesn't sell a single damned ad on that thing.

You beat me on that one! I always unhook my computers when a storm comes by. I had a bad light ling strike a while back and it blew some of my sound equipment up. But with my computer unhooked it saved it. So my source with radar will only be on TV then. of course I can look at it on my phone but its small and not as detailed. KXAN should put on a radar sweep again.

The only time I watch regular TV any more is the weather, and football. The rest is on cable. DirectTV does not have a local weather service like TW does which I wish it did.

With KEYE launching Telemundo on 42.2 in 2 weeks, any cash KVUE hoped to make off Estrella is pretty much history now.

Absolutely excellent. Yes, Spanish TV will be a force in this market, as if it isn't already. But this ... stuff ... that KVUE has signed up with ... oh, it's so Belo.

Oh, and regarding DirecTV...if your remote has the "ACTIVE" button, press that, then select weather. That should bring up a very coarse (statewide) radar and forecast. It's not what's needed, but it's something.

Like really a kid is going to wake up and tune to a all weather channel to watch E/I..? Come on FCC thats crazy.

Well, my 4 year old niece is hooked on The Weather Channel. Every time they show a map with Texas, she yells "Texas". I've never known a kid that young who would rather watch weather rather than cartoons or other kids fare (even at 5am or 9pm, she has to have her "weather fix").

I've gotta love her!

Jim

Ok so KVUE wants you to check out the weather online. Well my DSL and phone line was out all weekend. I had to use 24.2 (while it is still weather) and 5.3 KENS to check on the radar. Its slow on the phone and not as detailed.

jras, i haven't checked out kvue 2 this morning, it will be around 3 or 4 before i check to see whats on.i think they should open up a third channel for the weather radar. these channels i believe are free to these tv stations.

I loved watching the weather forecast when I was 4 or 5 years old. I grew up in Seattle, watching Ray Ramsey on KOMO on our Black and White television set. Of course, in those days, I also had to know what time the news came on!!

When I get off of work I'll check it out but I may not have internet again at home to post any thing until at&t will get their stuff together around here and fix it.

Estrella TV is now on the air on Belo's KENS 5.2 and KVUE 24.2.
No local content that I can see. Maybe they're just getting paid to carry the channel like in the old days of network compensation.

Yep. But KENS also has radar sweep on 5.3.

Maybe KENS has more money to throw around than KVUE. San Antonio is a bigger market and it probably costs the same to put Wx on a subchannel in New York as it does in New Mexico since no live talent is involved.

KAVU in Victoria has a radar sweep on 25.4 (15.4) and that also shows local news/sports and weather.

Good point. BTW-- What's the pic quality on a .4 channel?

Not bad, sound is in mono, they have mostly in a small screen for the radar, 7 day forecast on the bottom, current conditions around the area on the left, a news scroll on the bottom. Wish I had a DVD recorder out there I could record a clip of it.
