"...I hear Memphis calling me home..."

I remember the "L. & T. K.C." was a pretty fair country copywriter in another life before she became K.C.

Xavion....GREAT local band.... If i still had a turntable I would break out all those old LPs right now cause damn I miss that music!

Rick Earwood

10-4 on that Rick. After I posted about the Xavion song last night I HAD to go put the 45 on the turntable. I guess I had not played that song in 10 years or so.

Hi Rob"I Live For The Weekend" Grayson, and all my radio friends and partners in crime. Rob, you are correct about "Firecracker" by Southern Creed...whose name was eventually shortened to Creed in the late 70's (a suggestion by Electra Records when they recorded their album at Elton John's Caribou Ranch.) The incredible Steve Ingle was my first love and wrote the song for me one afternoon after driving me to work at Goldsmiths Oak Court. (Yes...that was soooo long ago.)They were SUCH a talented band and so ahead of their time. It's possible that Hal Butler, the awesome keyboard player, may still have copies of their recordings on CD. If he does, buy one...or two! Their music is just so great!! I'm hoping that "Creed" will do another reunion show during the holidays in December. I missed the first one and was just sick about it. To hear their songs again LIVE...well...you've just got to be there.

Youtube has the Xavion song, "Eat Your Heart Out" on it...plays with a picture of the album as video...Xavion according to the web site listed below are back together and available for "clubs, college parties, and any event that has the potential to go over-the-top."

OMG. I think Xavion played my high school prom. I haven't thought about them in YEARS! :-\

Look for some stuff by The Crime while you're at it.....This could start a whole new thread about defunct Memphis bands....

Three pages and no mention of Calculated X??!!! I remember looking out four windows until they were too foggy to see through. ;D

I have been fortunate enough to buy a copy of "Memphis, I'm Coming Home to You" by the Shoe Section on Ebay, but since "buy it now" was the only option offered, it cost me $6.00 with postage and handling. (I wasn't fortunate enough to get in on the bidding for the earlier 45 referenced in this thread.) If anyone is interested, I will be glad to make a cassette copy of it for you (along with whatever happens to be on the "B" side) once I receive it. Send me a cassette, a postage paid return envelope, and a couple of $$ for my time and effort. I am not trying to gouge anyone here, or take advantage of anyone, or turn this into a "money-making opportunity," but I thought $6.00 for a 45, no matter how rare or hard to find, was a bit steep, especially for someone unemployed like I am right now. So all I'm really trying to do here is recoup my "investment." If I had the technology, I would convert this into an MP3 file and email it to anyone who wants it. (I don't even have a CD burner on this computer.) If any of you live near Nashville and could help me out with that, please contact me off this board.

For years, my only copy of this song has been a fuzzy cassette copy which I recorded directly off of FM 100 myself about 20 years ago. If I hadn't found this on Ebay myself, I, too, would be wanting a copy, so I'm not going to be driving any "hard bargains" here. I just want to be fair to everyone. No, I will NOT sell my 45 when I get it! ;D ;D

Please note that since I just "won" my copy of this 45 last night, that I haven't received it yet, and since I will be gone from November 23rd to December 2nd, it may well be early December before I receive my copy, and can make any dubs for anyone.

Send me a message off this board if you are interested.

Ahh some memories here. I have one of the collector black t-shirts with the bridge in white in the background and the song lyrics on the front.
