Even *I* remember the affiliation switch on WCAU 10!! I remember seeing Willard on the next morning or something and thinking wow, this is different.
Rockin Rob said:I remember both flips. 10 did a big blowout "special" newscast to welcome the programming from NBC. 3, by contrast, was just veteran booth announcer stating that, after X amount of years, KYW-TV would become a CBS station. No hype, no special....just a voiceover and into CBS programming.
And....after the Dan Rather incident(s) and the skunk abortion known as their so-called morning block, I'd bet KYW-TV still wishes they were NBC.

Also, I remember that KYW really didn't do any branding changes, but WCAU did. I don't remember exactly since I was in Central Jersey at the time and got both New York and Philadelphia and mainly watched New York, but thought it was neat that the two stations were going to switch!
I think the message KYW-TV aired was KYW-3 is now your CBS station? KYW-TV did lead their newscasts on that Saturday night 9/9/95 a few hours before the switch to CBS with the big switch and showing pictures of their new satellite for CBS programs being installed on the roof of the 5th and market studios. BTW the last CBS program aired on channel 10 was coverage of the US open correct and the last NBC prime-time program at 10 PM that KYW-TV would ever air was a rerun of "A Comedy Salute to Andy Kaufman" correct? Someone should post the TV listings from that dayimhomerjay said:I don't recall much in the way of mechanics being needed at 1 a.m. (after SNL ended on KYW). Channel 3 simply ran a short message that they were the new CBS station, while channel 10 introduced their new name with a fake 1 a.m. newscast. Since no network programming would air for another 6 or 7 hours, everything else seemed pretty much the same as it would normally be in the dead of the night.
The Switch happened on Sunday September 10th, 1995 at 1 AM EDT. A day that changed Philadelphia TV.Scott Brown said:Boy, I sure miss WCAU when it was CBS. Boy those shure were the days?Does anyone have anything that can help me relive those days? Thanks,Scott Brown
