That was one of the best radio stations in Macon.I listened to it day and night until their departure in 1980.Not only did this beautiful music station play the most beautiful music I ever heard they also had an extensive library of music and you didn't here the same song for 6 months or more.I remember some of the radio personalities that use to work for this station Tom Meede and Hal Sutton. The station had very few commercials. The first time I found this station in 1975 was when I heard it as background music on channel 13 were they had the clocks going up and down. Then I tuned to 107.9 and found it on the FM dial.I sure wish they would bring this format back on the FM dial.I listen to beautiful music now on XM's Escape channel 78 and dish 973 but I'd still listen to WCRY if it would come back.I beleive road rage instances can be blamed on the elimination of beautiful music from FM radio.Unless you have Xm or your own b/ez cds or have it on an ipod like I do you can't hear it anymore.People on the road have no way to relax.I hate these radio corporations that got this music off of FM Cumulus Media,Clear Channel etc.In the 70s there were other great b/ez stations that played like WCRY such as WJCL(Savannah)WPCH(Atlanta)WGPC(Albuny)and WDEF(Chattanooga TN)Even the beautiful music channel Id jingles were relaxing on these stations.Long Live Beautiful Music may it make a return to the FM dial.
