I Want In Again

J&C

Nothing to lose is just where I would like to start. However, those who do have something to lose could do worst that to give me 15 minutes.

I know what I am looking do sounds difficult given the current conditions… But trust me it makes sense.

I think a little buzz has been created, so when I start making calls soon... I just might get my 15 minutes. Thank you all for your help and good wishes.

Louie

Louie,
If you need a reference, let me know. Being on the air for 37 years, I've enjoyed working with some of the top names in the radio industry, small and major market, and you my friend, rank among them. Best of luck!

Ken Gilbert

A recommendation from Kenny Gilbert is a valuable as a bucket of herring in the walrus room at Marine World... in other words (pure gold).

For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure of working with Ken; He is truly one of the good guys in the radio industry. Jim Condon and I worked with him at Radio Vermont and he was among the kindest people there. There should be more Ken Gilbert’s in the radio industry.

Kenny I have listed you as a reference, thank you for your kind words and all of your support through the years.

I realize this is Manno's thread...but satellite radio was brought up earlier.

Sirrius and XM are at the point of merging...simply because Sirrius is making money and XM isn't!

But either way...it proves that some listeners are willing to pay for good or diversified programming as opposed to "yesterday's leftovers!"

If the product doesn't match the hype.....and this includes everything from air personalities to commercials....listeners WILL tune you out.

It doesn't get any simpler than that! :-*

And by the way...let's eliminate the incorrect "N" from my user name once and for all.

It's argytunes ----not angrytunes!

Louie- You should have never left; you were way too good. I know you certainly had a lot of "Fun" on the air, especially in the salt air. The 80's were good to both of us. I'm assuming you have already checked with "Double-D." I speak with a lot of people all the time, so if there's anything I can do to help, let me know. Say "hi" to Jim for me as well. Reach me at [email protected].

Why would anyone want to work for a GM (DD) who number one, doesn’t back his staff, John Brooks is a prime example. His comments on Winooski girls was funny, but DD being Mr. White Bread can’t have anyone on his station say anything that just might upset one or two people. There is no doubt in my mind that if Howard Stern were still on Radio DD would have dropped him immediately from IZN.
I also heard a funny one recently. Someone called and complained about a sweeper that izn was running about more rock than a crack house. Dan made the pd at izn pull the sweeper. Can you say micro manager? Good luck Louie if you want to go back and work in that atmosphere again. You already had to deal with this once. What’s the saying, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice…

For Dr. Pepper...

If satellite radio isn't making any money or has no impact on the average listener, would you please tell me why auto manufacturers are installing satellite radio as part of their NEW CAR PACKAGES.

See the story that was featured earlier today in www.radio-info.com if you don't believe me!

"argy" let's get Louie a gig, this is what the thread is all about....

go listen to your satellite radio, and then tell me what the weather is going to be like in Vermont, or what's up with "rock snot", or tasers down in Brattleboro....

Dr. Pepper...

What type of a gig does Louie want? A lot of good suggestions were brought up, not to mention a few referrels, but I still didn't get a 'handle' on the type of format Louie is willing to take a chance on.....even if he had multi-millions to invest?

With satellite radio...I only quoted the article that was featured earlier this week. I'm not suggesting that Sirius and XM (combined or separate) are radio's audio saviours! But that the services offer programming that many commercial radio stations are too paranoid to even try! ::)

What format? Any… Maybe not country (I’m a Brooklyn boy and can’t relate as well). I guess I’d like something in programming and I’d be happy to consult. You guys have given me some great suggestions and Have been very helpful. I look forward to eventually revealing the specifics of my plan. I would be most interested to see what you all think.

I don’t have high expectations about working in radio again… Though I do have something very cool to offer.

I’m glad to see that there are sill a lot of folks still in radio with passion and knowledge.

Keep the faith,

Louie
