I wish LA had another classic hits station

David is on the money. I wish it were not so, but whatever.... To Radioaydio may I suggest RadioParadise.com ? Or any other decent AAA over-the-air station that also streams in 64kbps+ or any other decent AAA Internet station? Forget AAA in LA. We DO have Indie 103.1 while not AAA comes close to being a real alternative. Its the closest thing to the OLD 101.9 KMPC-FM/KEDG The Edge circa 1987-89 when they had Jim Ladd, JJ Jackson, Rachel Donohue, and Company.

... and I looked at the Winter (Jan - Mar), 1988 ratings for KMPC-FM and they had a 0.5 share.

David, having been an actual regular listener to that station, Jim Ladd did not arrive until mid-1988, so the 0.5 came way before. I believe they never got higher than around a 0.9 however, BUT that figure IS 80% higher than a 0.5 ;)

Their format was only alive for about 4 months at the beginning of the Winter '88 book.

Thanks for the history. I looked at Fall of 88, and they had 0.7, in Winter of '89 they had a 0.9 and in Spring of '89 it was a 0.7. I believe that they changed to K-LIT in Summer, and got a 1.2 in Summer and Fall of '89.

An anecdote came to mind... the building on Sunset where 101.9 was housed until it moved to Burbank near Forest Lawn Cemetary... had KMPC and K-LIT silver letters on the entrance. With some regularity, the hyphen was "stolen" giving a whole new meaning to the call letters.

I got to see the KSCA studios in Burbank when doing due diligence on the LMA / Purchase agreement, and they had a wall that was covered with autographs and little messages from all the major AAA artists. I sure hope someone sawed off the pieces of drywall to preserve it.
