Has this station added any mixshows yet?

I'm starting to dig on i93... It has gotten better IMHO. It is starting to remind me of KDL. THey seem to be leaning more dance. I really like this recent add by Far East movement - "G6" 8)

Recent add for I-93? The song is number one on rival 106.1 Kiss FM

Well, they need to get rid of Kidd Kraddick... 50 something trying to be relevant to 20 somethings.

COULDN'T AGREE MORE! Just had this conversation with my wife. After I had to take her car to work, I asked how on Earth she listens to him. She admitted it's gotten weak over the last couple of years but said there just isn't anything else out there for her demo.

Where are they going to be coming from?

I93 finds a decent morning show and they could give their competition a run for it's money...

...and where might they look??? IMHO this is only one place of many where the industry has choked itself until it can almost no longer breathe. I'm specifically referring to air talent, NEW air talent, air talent that isn't 45+ and/or has not been recycled already. The industry has eliminated almost all the places and positions where air talent used to be developed. Dave Kraddick is too old? Who (that has a clue or has any experience) are you going replace him with that isn't as old or almost as old as he is? Ryan Seacrest??? There's only one of him! (per market, anyway) Where are they going to be coming from? The answer, my friends, is: They are NOT going to be coming... from ANYWHERE!

When folks ask me what I do, I tell them, "I'm in the entertainment business." Well, sadly, this business just isn't very entertaining anymore... not to the masses, anyway. Yes, there are certain niches that are filled here and there but there just isn't any programming that reaches through the radio, grabs people by the throat and screams, "LISTEN TO ME!!!" The folks that knew how to do that are gone now and the people they were supposed to teach to replace them... their jobs were sacrificed in the name of profit. They were not there to be taught how to do it... and now, the art is lost. It doesn't exist anymore.

This rant has been a long time coming, only because it is so very frustrating to have to look at what used to be an incredibly exciting and fun business/career/industry and know that it is no longer like that and will never be that way again. I have avoided it for quite a while but there are only a few buttons you can push that will set me off and 'jeff' & 'idig' pushed one of the biggest ones. The worst part about the rant is: I (we) can rant all we want. It's not going to change anything. The damage has been done and unfortunately, there's no undoing it.

Rant concluded,
carry on (like nothing else is wrong).

Move along...
nothing to see here.

You're right Jeff, who wants to hear an old fart on a Top 40 station to attract teens and 20 somethings??

I am wondering if some might say that they are trying to appease Mom so that she will leave the car radio on for carpool in addition to pulling some from either side outside the carpool demo. I93 may be pulling some from the bottom side of the demo but not much else in the AM so far is my guess. Kraddick has such a loyal base here that I don't think he will go anywhere until he is good and ready and I don't see him making a KLUV jump yet, not that Jody is going anywhere but I simply mean a format adjustment.

You are forgetting the intermediary step: KVIL. Maybe KDMX.

I suspect Kidd sees himself as too hip for anything but a Top40 guy despite what the demos might suggest. I think he would see even more success on a hot AC, but I'm guessing he is happy with the deal he has.

Maybe Gen-X radio somewhere. KDMX or KEGL??

And as usual with internet message boards we see a bunch of posters who know less than crap about what works and what doesnt on a Top 40 morning show.
Kidd Kraddick may not be young, but he's a huge part of the reason why KHKS FM is not only number one 12+, but is both a dominant player with women both in the 18-34 and 25-54 demos.
Believe it or not up in Boston there's another Kiss station, WXKS Kiss 108, which has a morning show anchored by a guy whose been with the station for something like 30 years. The station's ratings? At an alltime high with a phenomenal 10 share

Kiss 108 is number one by a longshot both in share and in cume.

The same Boston station also had a midday guy who was a senior citizen. He also drew high numbers, but Clear Channel let him go for cheaper talent in budget cuts a few years ago.

When it comes to Kidd, I've never been a fan of his. I didn't like him 20+ years ago when he was on KEGL (though I did put up with him at the time because the Y-95 and Q-102 morning shows were mostly talk), and I never listened to him the last time I lived in Dallas in '96. He's on one of my local stations via syndication, and I still don't listen to him. He is, however, very good at what he does, and he gets the listeners and the money. Just because I'm not a fan of his doesn't mean I don't respect his accomplishments and talent!
